A good vise for holding bottles?
Anyone know of a good vise that I could use to hold paint bottles such as model master while I open them? I only have one hand and I would rather not break a tooth trying to use my teeth. :D I am looking for something to secure the bottles on the table so I can open and close them. Any suggestions?

Removing paint from clear parts
I painted some clear parts with black tinting, but I got it on too heavy so it does not look even. Is there a way to remove paint from clear pieces without damaging them?

I am having issues with some enamel paint that I am brushing on. It dries withing 5-10 seconds so if I hit that area with a brush again, I get gummy clumps and bad smears. It is just a specific bottle of paint. It may be old or a bad batch. I considered buying a new bottle, but I would like to salva...

Retardants for enamel paint
I have a bottle of paint that is drying faster than normal making it a pain to pant with. I heard somewhere that you can get some retardants to make paint dry slower. Anyone have a link?

Clear Coat Necessary?
I am finishing up a model with no decals and the paint already has the desired finish (flat). Is a clear coat even necessary? Some of the paint is white. Would clear coat help prevent discoloration?

btw i admire your resolve in not letting the missing limb hold you back from what you like to do. i myself can barely do my models with both hands!! i can't imagine the complexities it adds to the hobby only having one hand. just holding a piece and then work on it would require a jig of some sort ...

I don't really have a problem glueing stuff in place. The problem I ran into w/ the launch tower is that the pieces are very awkward to try clamping (and fragile as well) and I don't want to have to hold a part in place for an hour while the glue sets. That is why I was looking for a less brittle al...

They are not obscenely warped, but enough that they don't fit together properly. Most of the pieces are for the scaffolding framework on the launch pad, so clamping them would not work. Super glue has worked pretty well so far, but there are some areas that will take more stress and I am afraid the ...

Need glue advice
What is a strong, fast drying type of glue for styrene? I am working on a 1/144 shuttle launch tower and there are several parts that can't really be clamped. I have tried Super Glue which holds pretty well, but it still seems rather brittle. Regular plastic cement takes far too long to dry. Suggest...

Paasche airbrush bottle cap for Model Master jars?
Does the Paasche 1/2 oz jars for the model H airbrushes screw directly onto Model Master paint jars? I have a few 1 oz jars and I am tired of pouring paint back and forth between jars.

I recently purchased a Paasche external mix syphon feed AB (don't remember the exact model #). I have had a few problems and have several questions. 1 . What tip size works best for MM acrylics, particularly for large area coverage? It came w/ a 1, 3, and 5. 2 . Is there a difference between the air...

Clear Flat Coat
In the past, I have always used spray bomb dullcoats, such as from Testors. I recently tried airbrushing on a Model Master Flat Clear Acrylic instead. I wound up with spots that looked "frosted" when the light hits them just right. This primarily occurred where I had large decals. Is this ...

Sticking the decals w/ a knife and adding a bit more future got rid of most of the offenders. The ones I could not get rid of were the ones where I had a decal on top of another decal. I put some future on between decals, but maybe I did not get enough. This was my first attempt at using aztecking d...

Decal problems
I have been having trouble with some of the larger decals I have applied. I will apply them and everything looks fine, however, when I put on the top coat of future, air bubbles start to appear. I am not sure if the future is causing areas to lift off a bit or if the future is causing existing bubbl...

I just recently started using Futur as a clear coat. All was going well until yesterday. I had applied a set of 3rd party aztecking decals to my NX-01 and when I applied the top coat of future, the future kept trying to bead up on the decals. As it dried, it smoothed itself out some, but when the li...
