Scotch tape is good. But the Envirotex I can't recommend. The stuff never sets on me. Ever. It remains soft and sticky for months.

After a fair bit of thought and even more play, I decided I'll call Testor's and send it back to them. The simple reason is that the double-action just doesn't work. The main pin, when adjusted with the wheel at the back, doesn't ever extend far enough to push the nozzle's pin forward enough to bloc...

Hi Ter-or, I took your advice and tried three thin coats: http://pat.suwalski.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=826 Does that look right? I threw in a penny for scale. Looks a little rough to me. Unlike a single thick coat, it's not as reflective as glass. This was done at 15 psi, with the tan (fine) ...

starmanmm: I took you advice and weathered it!: http://pat.suwalski.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=823 Then I went and ruined it by dullcoating over that ! Don't worry, it's a piece I made just to play with weathering techniques. But it's always nice to know that dullcote can ruin your model twice ...

Thanks for the advice. I'll experiment further on spare parts. My problem is actually applying the Future thin. I go at 15 psi, on a brand new Tan (fine) tip on my Aztek A470 airbrush, and I just can't see it self-level. I find it beads unless there is a consistent coat across the whole thing, thus ...

Future Woes.

Hello, Every time I use Future, I seem to get results like this: http://pat.suwalski.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=819 To get this, I paint with Testor's Acryl paints, thinned 40% with their thinner. I wait a day or two, and do a single wet coat of Future. I wait 48 hours, and apply a wet coat of ...

Aztek A470 Problems.

Problems, problems, problems. I once got an Aztek A470, with mahogany case. My first airbrush. Watching the video that came with it, I was immediately captivated. Unfortunately, I could never get it to work right. A year later, I went to use it again, but all the metal bits had completely corroded. ...

Thanks for the good advice. I don't want to put Mr. Surfacer through my airbrush because I heard it's a lacquer-thinned thing. I only put acrylics through my brush. Also, it's -30 outside and ventilation is a problem. Thanks for the info about the Tamiya primer. I guess it going on in a way that doe...

Tamiya Primer

Hello, I went to the hobby store recently and noticed that Tamiya Primer in the rattle can is unusually expensive. I asked the guy at the counter why, and he said it goes on very thin, smooth, and sticks very well to metal as well as plastic (he works with photoetch brass a lot). I've been using jus...
