Re: Future (Pledge Floor Care) is it gone for good?

Kylwell, Thanks for looking this up. Your saying Pledge Floor Gloss: https://www.pledge.com/en-us/products/pledge-floor-gloss Is not the same as the Future we knew and loved and that our cherished acrylic floor covering is gone for good. So FineScale is wrong about this? I'm sure the Alclad product ...

Future (Pledge Floor Care) is it gone for good?

The last time I checked a supermarket, the acrylic floor covering we all love was gone. There was a Pledge product for floors but it was a cleaner not an acrylic clear coat. I chalked it up to COVID-19 shortages. An Alclad video seemed to claim that Future is gone for good and promoted on of their p...

Re: Comic style color scheme help.

A few years ago at Wonderfest, someone made a Superman model with comic book coloring and shading by black lines and crosshatching. It was amazing. No matter what angle you photographed it from it looked like a 2D cutout. I think it won a gold.

Re: Basics. Airbrushing.

Hi Chas,

I've never used one but a lot of serious car modelers use automotive touch-up guns on their models.

Paul Budzik has at least one video on automotive spray guns for models.

Re: Dust when airbrushing

Hi jgoldader, At a model club meeting decades ago, some of us complained about the troubles we had with dust. Others claimed they never had dust problems. The modelers with dust problems were all single. Married modelers were dust free. Apparently, the presence of a woman in the house keeps dust and...

Re: Looking for small rocket nozzles?

Wave, Kotobukiya and maybe Volks sell small rocket nozzles intended for detailing Gundam kits. If the Starship Modeler Store can't order them for you, Hobbysearch and HLJ sell them.

Re: Polishing cream

I like Novus plastic polish. https://www.novuspolish.com/index.html You can probably find it locally at glass shops and plastic shops and occasionally from model contest vendors. Novus 2 is good for most model polishing. Novus 3 is for heavier scratches. Follow it with Novus 2. With Future you don't...

Re: cheap plastics or balaswood

If you have any Ma & Pa hardware stores left, check to see if they sell scraps of cut window plastic. Years ago I picked up a lot of the stuff for cheap. It's about 1/8 inch thick. I think it's made from PETE so you'll probably need to use epoxy.

Broken toys from flea markets and thrift stores. Water guns. Broken headphones. Cheap kits from vendors at model contests.

Re: Soft Vinyl model needs some weight suggesstions needed for filler(s)!!!

Old time vinyl modelers used Mountains in Minutes, a two-part foam for model railroaders. I've never been able to find it. I've used aerosol foam from the hardware store. Avoid the "minimal expansion foam," it expands with enough force to distort parts. Be careful with the stuff. Once it g...

Re: Black/blue paint

Hi aussie cylon,

What are you trying to do?

Are you trying to replicate the color of the actual car?

Are you trying to replicate the color of the car as it appears on film?

Are you going for a scale effect of one of the above?

Are you doing something completely different?

Re: Will vinyl and styrene glue together??

Is the vinyl really vinyl and not polyethylene? Don't let styrene and vinyl touch. The vinyl might soften. Create a barrier between the two materials. Put a thin layer of epoxy on one part. Let it set. Epoxy it to the other.

On the old forum it was possible to login to check your new personal messages without reseting the forum posts that are new to you.

Now, when you login and check your personal messages does this reset the forum posts that are new to you?

Thanks for the inline images.

Please keep sig images banned. sights like FineScale are so repulsively ugly I can't look at them for more than about thirty seconds. They make me see sick.

Thanks
