Re: UV Reflective Paints
Sounds to me like glow in the dark paints. If so you can find such paints at any craft store like Michaels or Craft Wearehouse. There's also a glow in the dark substance you can add to any color paint of you choosing, and they are acrylic based.

Re: Using putty to fill gaps and seams
Depending on how big a gap to be filled some times I'll glue scrap plastic into the gap and then putty.
Besides don't all putties shrink??
Something else I do is after the putty has dried and been sanded I'll brush some paint on the area which I puttied to see if there are any small gaps.

Re: Vallejo Plastic Putty
Checked out the web sites for a couple of LHSs today and Tammies Hobbies carries the Vallejo putty and I went there this afternoon and picked up a bottle of it, they don't seem to carry it in a tube. Tried it on the back of the AMT 18" Enterprise and it was dry in just a few minutes. No more he...

Re: Need a good quality water based primer
Using acrylic paints I discovered they will not stick to bare styrene so you'll need to paint your model with an enamel. That's about all I use and I have had no problems with adhesion. When I mask and remove the tape once the second color paint has dried the acrylic paint comes off along with the ...

Re: Gravity or siphon feed airbrush best?
I have a TESTORS aztek single action airbrush which I bought 7 years ago and it came with siphon and gravity paint cups. This particular airbrush also comes with dual action.

You could always apply the decals for the saucer rim and use them as a guide/template to drill the windows.

Actually it's there on the index page as well as each sub forum page, the difference is when you click on MFR located on the index page it marks each sub forum read but when you do it on each sub forum page it just marks topics read for that section only.

As I mentioned above ;) , a model car I built several years ago, painted with Tamiya clear, shows no signs of yellowing. I have to ask is the model car White or a different color? it seems to me that the yellowing will be more noticeable on a White model. It's red, white, and blue. That is, white m...

From what I've read Testors clear gloss will yellow but their clear flat does not yellow. since you're building the Excelsior do you want a gloss or a flat finish?? If it's gloss the go with future floor polish, if it's a flat finish it's my understanding the Testors clear flat does not yellow. Don'...

It applies great but shrinks a lot and sanding it sucks. I've gone back to Mister Dissolved Putty for the applications I was trying to use it for - yes that shrinks too but at least I can sand it decently with just a little care afterwards. It also tends to to dry up at the tip badly for me, so you...

Pinning??Kylwell wrote:Resin requires pinning and different glues. Cleanup is usually different as resin can have huge pour stubs, horrible seams, misaligned sides, etc.
When it comes to paint the biggest difference is resin pretty much mandates a primer.
I thought we had something on resin here...
