those green leds say max voltage of 3.6 volts. 5 Volts will be bad for them, if you connect them in series so they want 6.4 volts 5 volts will probably power them up and they will last for many years (+led-+led -). You will need to test the power supply, some of them are not well regulated. plug it ...

Depends on the weight of the ship, you could try press contacts, a pad on the station presses against a pad on the ship. If the ship was held in place by a magnet it will allow you to pull it off and re-seat it as needed, even if you have to tack it back in place between trips to contests. here's a ...

Last time I went to order some SMT LEDs I was annoyed to find digikey out of stock on most of the ones I wanted to try. So I found out you can order direct from one of the companies: http://www.kingbrightusa.com/ They're in the us so shipping was pretty fast. Best to use solder paste with SMT LEDs a...

yes you can always use a larger than needed power supply, To those who think its a good way to 'protect' the circuit in the model, you should not be using the power supply's max output rating as a limiter for your circuit. The power supply will be running at max load and tend to burnout and or surge...

Ya have to see if these are out, if they are generally available to more than just OEM digikey should have them. . . Right now looks like their distribution is limited (they are out of Europe). You can get them from Newark with a hefty $20 per order surcharge, http://www.newark.com/mentor/1321-1400/...

If you have ICs or other chaigng outputs resistors cannot be used as a voltage regulator. Resistors are calculated for static (constant current) circuits, ICs that are changing their outputs will be constantly varying their current draw so a resistor should not be used. Also please consider that a r...

Air brushes blow cold air, having to do with air pressure/volume changes....It could also help dislodge any bits of wire or solder that floating across connections though. Make sure you at least have a moisture trap on the line. Hate to add water to the interior.

Sounds like the confusion is, what wires are coming out of the unit that tell us you need a separate 12 volt and a 24 volt supply. There must be at least 3 wires coming out of the device. there could be 4. But there cannot be less than 3 if it needs 2 different DC voltages. Are you sure it is 12 vol...

Inspect for wires that were pinched hard enough to be cut, depending on the gauge wire , you can pinch cut them with a plastic edge. Ribbon cable like what is used for older Internal hard drives, I have personally seen pinch cut while dry fitting models together.

Hook up the batteries as you expect to use them, leaving the wiring leads for the 12 volt and 24 volt system unconnected but clearly marked (mayeb in a polarized connector of sorts), then measure them out. you probably have a common negative/ground. If you have more than one ground going into the de...

don't use resistors to fix mis matched power supply needs for multi color flashers, it won't work. Resistors work for devices which turn on and run constant, no changing current usages. Multi color flashers draw varying amounts of current as the colors vary in which colors are on and at what brightn...

Stranded will take moving and pushing a little better, the solid can be broken off through metal fatigue pretty easily. If you want stranded you should look into getting a wire stripper that can strip it properly though. Nicking the solid wire while stripping it will eat into its durability as well....
