Re-start.

New plates - platters, really. This changes the design a wee bit - oval instead of round, and a new idea for the forward hull.

Internal bracing added, as well as locator "buck teeth" on the forward hull.

Leepee, welcome to the hobby and to SSM! :) I, too, enjoy scratch-building/kit-bashing. I got a lot of my dead/donor kits from members here, who were selling off boxes of kits with which they no longer wanted to deal; Ti Raven sent me a box of single-use camera carcasses; and I've bought batches of ...

As I found out. :) It's all good - learning experience, and all that. The Dollar Store has plenty more of them, I'm sure. :) I just need to make a re-supply run.

A-a-a-and just like that, Build A is on hiatus.

I have somehow managed to break both plates, so I'm out of both building material and glue.

Ok - I've been feeling like a slug for not getting busy on my "own" challenge. Since I have this week off from work - plant shut-down - I really have no more excuses. :) Besides, despite all the evidence to the contrary, I really do want to do this. Also, this is my first try at using Imgu...

As I see it, Raser, your problem will be having to choose which bits to put where. :) Nice collection of bits, and I like the directions you seem to be choosing for their assembly. :)

Scotian Shipyards

I found this design on the inter-webs, on a Traveler-ship design site. I won't use this exact design, but I do want to use facets of it as departure points.

These are some of my raw materials. More will be obtained, in the fullness of time and as required. :)

I simply went out - dollar stores, I-Party, Michael's - and bought whatever looked likely. I have plates of differing sizes and composition; two football-shaped finger bowls; 4 scoops; two oval platters;plastic champagne 'glasses'; party favours; one package of small plates;and, my piece-de-resistan...

I know - it's a very broad definition.

Challenge Rules (amended) ''Plates-In-Space'' Challenge 1) Use at least one plate (size, shape, quantity, etc., are builder's choice) as the basis for a “Sci-Fi thing” build. It would be nice if the plate was evident in the build. 2) Entrants will have one calendar year from 1 September, 2016 to com...

whatever you wish is OK, with the exception of animal products. That is because this is to be a construct, not a natural thing – no creatures-as-ships – ie, Moya & Talon from Farscape. I want to question this. Why can't my Slartharian Star Empire intergalactic Wave Rider NOT be a living ship? W...

Once we hear from BLoSSM, I'll ask a moderator to move this thread to the Contests bloc - but really, until they issue a decision, we don't quite have a contest yet.
