Removed the pieces today and cleaned them, the only after effect at this time is the plastic has a slight sticky feel to it and it also feels a bit soft, but when I scrapemy finger nail across the plastic there is no scratch marks. The one piece that was painted with a laquer over enamel has a crack...

Dan I was refering to the Rubbermaid tubs. Anyway I bought a bottle of Pine-Sol regular today and after puti...

The enamel paints I want to remove are, Testors and Krylon, as well as Plasti-Kote laquer. 3 of the models were painted about 9 years ago so the paint is pretty much cured. Any body ever use Dot 3 brake cleaner? There should be a sticky here for removing paint, because when I looked around on Starsh...

I'm talking about removieng spray paint, as for brush paints I've been using acrylic paints for about 10 years now, mainly ones you get at a craft store and a few of those are a decent match for MM paints.

Like I said I WILL NOT USE EASY-OFF. As for why not 1) I live in an apartment and to deal with any mess/clean up afterward would be to much hassle and then there's the weather this time of year and I would rather strip paint indoors if I can. 2) I would prefer to use something for striping paint tha...

Some body on here said that Pine-Sol with lemon scent has something in it that softens styrene, but regular Pine-sol won't harm styrene.

When using Pine-Sol or Simple Greem for removing paint, can water be added to them without effecting their ability to remove paint?

For my Pl TOS 1701 I sprayed Plasti-kote auotomotive touch up paint and have had no problems with it. The color is an oxford white I believe, any way it comes out white and as it dries it turns a very light grey, even lighter than the MM light grey. And this paint is a laquer by the way.

I have a correction to make, after talking to my nephew about it he told me that the dish soap is in the thnner not the paint, and the thinner also has rubbing alcohol in it. He went to post on here earlier but for some reason the post did not show up on the thread here.

Got some MM acrylic paints that I bought 8-11 years ago and they've slowly dried up 1 by 1, a few I think are still good. Never heaed about the thing with the nut or BBs, so I think I'll give it a try using ball bearings for the hub of a bicycle. Thanks for the idea!!

I've yyet to see flat white turn yellow, every time I use a gloss white it has a yellow tinge tto it even MMs acrilycgloss white, even clear gloss will develop a yellow tinge, so you might want to airbrush smoe future floor polish over the flat white to make it gloss.

If you've already glued in the windows then you could try a paper punch I do believe they come with different size holes.Or you could take the end of a metal rod the right size and dip it in the liquid mask and place it the windows, I've done myself.

I recently soaked a piece of styrene in 99% rubing alcohol for a few hours. The piece had been painted with Plast-Kote laquer about 8-9 years ago Any way I was wondering about denatured alcohol to remove the paint and what would either type of alcohol do to the plastic?

The 99% stuff works great on acrylic paints from craft stores not so good on model master acrylics. It can also dry out the plastic some. polistyrene that is, dont know about resine though. It also works better than the 70%stuff.
