Oh yeah! thanks for mentioning that! I was actually wondering, when doing that does one mushroom the end after snipping the FO strands? if so approx how much do I need to leave sticking out in order to get it to mushroom? alternately is it better to mushroom the end first and then, instead of snippi...

And thank you Pat Amaral for the suggestion of the gels, I was thinking about this for a plan b. And for plan ...

Coluoring fiberoptic strands?
Ok please bare with me if this is a stupid question. I'm planning out the lighting for a 22" refit-A & I'm hoping to use a couple of white leds with fiberoptics for the marker lights. That's assuming I can colour the fiberoptic strands to the various colours I need. So is it possible to col...

Well I was thinking of placing them inside the front end of the Nacelles with only the tips showing through. They also sell them in singles but not in white  but I assume the singles are probably simillar in size. Check out the pic in this link where it's lighting up a magazine. http://www.flex...

Possible one stop spot lights for large scale ships?
Just wondering if anyone has used these, and what you think of the idea of using them for spot lighting a polar lights refit? http://www.flexiglow.com/products/LazerLED.htm

Well we called it a robot. Essentially the upper chamber contained two bowls of approx. 2.5L volume, both on pivot rods. One was above the other and over to the right, the other held a mixing paddle attached to a motor. Below these was a funnel with a replaceable liner in it and attached to the funn...

I used to work in a prototype shop. We used urethane resin that was mixed and degassed in the upper portion of a scratch built two level vacuum chamber, the lower section of which was 3.5'X3.5'X8', and was where the moulds were placed. once the resin was fully mixed it was poured into the mould, whi...

Sorry if this is an old topic to be responding to, but I couldn't help it. Using hair spray over decals is not a good idea. Sure it'll do the job, but it WILL yellow in a very short time period. Plus most hair sprays are alcohol based are they not? so you have to consider how this will affect the cl...

I think over all I prefer the colours on the uniform patterns to those in your last post. But thanks none the less. I think using uniform camo scheme on a a gundam might actually work well and seeing as it's completely fictional anyway I can probably get away with the impracticality of it. I mean th...

Is this for an SF or real world/near future camo scheme? If SF then you could go nuts with colours Well yeah. I finally broke down and got a couple of gundam kits : 178- MK II and MSZ-006 Zeta 2.0's but I can't stand the typical gundam colours so I thought I'd go more military. I'm actually thinkin...

Colours for Urban Camo?
Hi all I was wondering if I could get some suggestions of which colours to use in a four colour Urban Camouflage pattern - prf. Tamiya colours. I know the basics dark gray, light gray, black, white, but I just thought I'd see if anyone has used a set of colours that they were realy happy with. pics ...

I used to work in a rapid prototype shop and we did all of our tow part silly-cone molds as single pours, It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it - just like anything else I guess. What we did was to build a box for the part that was open on the top. across the top we placed copper welding rods...

Anyone thought of using a car battery to power the lighting for multiple kits? I've got five Kits I want to add lighting to (AMT Refit, Reliant, E-D, Excelsior, and a R/M Voyager)and I also plan on displaying them all on the same shelf. I was wondering if it would be possible to have them all powere...
