Re: How to weather question

Go on youtube. There are literally hundreds of "how to" tutorials on model building. They show you how to do whatever your heart desires. Lots and lots of very good videos. Familiarise yourself with a technique, watch the video over and over again, practise on a piece of plastic or even be...

Re: Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

Wow, man that looks.....terrible!! Does it say anything on the tin of cabothane what it actually is? Is it acrylic/varnish/water based/oil based etc??? When you cleaned it with windex prior to dipping, did you dry it?? Cos if any windex was still on the plastic, it would attack the cabothane...

Re: Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

I'm not sure if the cabothane will work. I have a feeling it will be easily scratched and take ages to dry. I think it works good on wood, as it gets absorbed into the wood fibres, whereas, it won't get absorbed into a plastic canopy. I think we really need something acrylic based, and I'm not sure ...

Re: Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

Yeah, I saw that website, and chocked on the price, plus postage, about $10 bucks. Total $35bucks  Hmmm, dunno if it's really worth that much :(

Re: Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

So you're pretty much saying to stay away from Pascoe's Long Life floor polish? I think that was the only alternative we have here in Oz, so what do I do now? I only want to use it for canopies. I was going to use normal clear coat, but I've heard they tend to go yellow after a while, depending on w...

Re: Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

So when you airbrushed it, did you use it for clear parts such as canopies? Or as a clear coat over paint?? I just want to use it for clear parts.

Future/Pledge in Australia?? Pascoe's Long Life floor polish??

Here in Australia, I've come across "Pascoe's Long Life self shining floor polish". I have seen it mentioned on the internet that it is a reasonable product in the absence of Future/Pledge. Has anyone here used it? I have seen a couple of youtube videos saying it's good stuff. I haven't us...

Re: New Future packaging?

If you posted something 10 years ago, it's probably disappeared. All my posts older than a few months have all gone. I think its something to do with the server outages that occurred a few months ago. That's too bad.

Re: New Future packaging?

Pledge's parent brand, bought the future name, and formula, from my understanding. Although it's distributed under the pledge name, the formula hasn't changed. In the US, yes. Overseas, it ranges from "unchanged" in the U.K. to "whatever formula is used by the manufacturer licensing ...

Re: Black/blue paint

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've used Tamiya paints and experimented with: a: gloss black basecoat with clear blue topcoat b: metallic blue basecoat with smoke topcoat c: clear blue basecoat with smoke topcoat d: smoke basecoat with clear blue topcoat Surprisingly, they all turned out quite ...

Re: Black/blue paint

I've read somewhere that the car was actually black with a blue tinge to it when the light hits it at certain angles. Although I don't seem to remember any blue in the film, well, basically because it was always night time. So I can get away with it being plain black, like everyone else's model, but...

I just found this on the internet: https://www.usagundamstore.com/products/alc-710-1oz-bottle-candy-cobalt-blue-enamel So I'm thinking, if I spray this over a black basecoat, I should end up with a really cool effect?? What's the difference between transparent paint, such as Tamiya Clear Blue and ca...

Re: Black/blue paint

OK, thanks for all the tips and suggestions guys. After trolling the internet and spending hours researching and reading different sites etc, I have come to this conclusion. I really wanted a colour changing "Chameleon" paint, but I couldn't find a black-blue one. They have all sorts of ot...

Re: Black/blue paint

Thanks for the tips guys, I like the Tamiya transparent blue idea.Might try that. It's actually the Keaton Batmobile that I want to paint. So I want it to be black, but sorta blue at the same time. I've read somewhere that's how it actually was. I've looked at automotive chameleon colour change pain...

Black/blue paint

Hi all, I want to paint something black, however, I want it to have a blue tinge to it when it catches the light. I've trolled the internet and can't find anything useful. Are there any paints out there that are readily available? If not, is there a technique to use, such as maybe spraying a light c...

Re: Will vinyl and styrene glue together??

You beat me to it. I was about to edit my last post. I'm now thinking of using that "blue stuff" to make a mold of the head and as you just said, I wouldn't have any issues. That saves me from destroying my Uncle Martin and I can cast several heads to glue onto different bodies for several...

Re: Will vinyl and styrene glue together??

I'm pretty sure it's vinyl. It's actually the Uncle Martin figure that comes with the "My Favorite Martian" kit by Pegasus. All the info on this kit point to it being a vinyl figure. I'm planning on chopping off his head, and glueing it to one of the Tamiya Rally Mechanics bodies. I've ord...

Thanks for that Liberator. I'll check it out tonight. I'm pretty sure I've seen a gel type super glue that is specifically used for dissimilar plastics at Bunnings.

Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure that we have a "Selleys" brand of thick gel type of CA glue here that I've seen at Bunnings. I'll have a look tonight.

Re: Will vinyl and styrene glue together??

Thanks for the tips guys. I like the aves idea, but that stuff is either not available, or very hard to find here in Australia. I think I saw it once in a haberdashery shop and it was pretty expensive, by memory. Same for gorilla glue. I've heard of it on the forums, but once again, never seen it he...

Will vinyl and styrene glue together??

Hi guys, I'm about to chop off the head of a vinyl figure and stick it onto a styrene body. I've never done this before, so my question is, which glue do I use? And how strong will the bond be?

My Favorite Martian Uncle Martin Figure

Just wondering if anyone out there has done the Pegasus Kit of My Favorite Martian? The kit itself is very basic, and PE is available, but I'm not too happy about the Uncle Martin figure. He just stands there with his arms folded across his chest. Granted, it's a wonderful sculpt, and looks exactly ...
