Topic: What are Iwata airbrushes like?

Own both Eclipse BS and Revolution CR for about four years. Love em' both. And I've used both Badger and Aztek brushes before coming to Iwata.

The Rev is a little harder to clean, simply because it's nozzle is pretty friggin' lose-this-in-the-carpet tiny. But the Eclipse is easy-peasy.

Bonedigger's Guide to Paint Strippers

FYI, Castrol Super Clean doesn't carry the Castrol name branding anymore. It's simply "Super Clean" (sold in the same purple gallon jug)

Hey, can we sticky this thread? Granted, CO2/N2 users aren't as numerous as those that use compressors...but since there are fewer of us, the knowledge isn't as common.

I"m sorry if this sounds harsh. But everything you've mentioned sounds more like modeler's urban legend than real experience with using compressed gas with airbrushes. I"ve used CO2 for over ten years. I've never used a heat exchanger. I've never had paint freeze (acrylics, enamels and lac...

Thanks for the heads up. I've never had a problem locating it here- the automotive section of Wal Mart always carried a dozen jugs of the stuff. Be aware that Castrol sells a line of car wash/cleaning products under the same "Super Clean" name. Make sure the bottle says *degreaser* FYI, Bo...

IIRC, Tamiya aerosol cans (not the acrylic bottles) are Acrylic Lacquer paints- and I use those all the time. As Ignatz mentioned, Castrol Super Clean (CSC)will strip that off no problem. Use gloves and immerse the part in a sealed plastic container like a Sterlite shoe box. An overnight bath is usu...

I didn't like it in blue. The HLJ/SM Store pic has it done in blue, and while it *is* an excellent paint job- IMO, it's not true to how the tumbler appears in the film. I thought Aircraft Interior Black/NATO Black was a good choice for a base, now I'm not so sure. I can't answer the pre-shading issu...

I remember making my own masking fluid once......ONCE. It involved mixing white glue, dishwashing detergent, and a little food coloring- I had picked up this "tip" from a Kalmbach modeling tips book from back in the 70's. And the mask failed horribly. Never again. BTW, the greatest masking...

I'm a big fan of Tamiya rattle can gloss, and I've decanted a lot of cans into bottles. This is what I know: -A 3oz rattle can will yield a little over 2 fl. oz. of paint. I was able to score a number of "boston round" 2oz bottles from an on-line bottle dealer. -I let the can set in a coff...

As much as I do love Alclad II, it's really frustrating that their primering instructions have always been kinda nebulous. This question pops up repeatedly in every online model discussion forum I've frequented. The primer serves two functions: -to provide a smooth surface -to barrier coat the plast...

I'm also using Flattened Future. But I always mix it fresh and discard the unused portion. I had a severely frosted finish once- not sure if it was a mixing issue or an old batch issue. (it was three months old)

I lean on Testors Acryl Flat if I'm in a rush.

I soak my in Coke for a day. It's much safer than other chemicals you buy in the household section of the grocery store and much less expensive. Sure, might take a while longer but the results are the same and your place won't smell like the morgue. Wasn't this Busted in an episode of Mythbusters??...
