Congrats! You are the first person to actually pull it off and build a kit within the 24-hour timeline!

Way to go!

Go for it! I am happy to report that I FINALLY have Internet service again at home. The ISP I had been with (called Primecast) went bankrupt the second week of June, and took my service with them. I've been relying on the Internet connection on my phone to even be able to look at e-mail and to post ...

I'm gonna try to maybe work on one next weekend, but it's going to be tight. We have a memorial service at church on Saturday morning, and a church picnic with friends that afternoon. I don't participate in the contest, but it's still fun to see what can be done in a day. This weekend is out. I'm wo...

Submission deadline extended - one last time!

Edited July 2: In an effort to encourage folks to submit something, I'm going to extend the deadline one last time, to carry through the month of July. So . . . last time: DEADLINE IS JULY 31ST! I was without Internet at home for most of June, otherwise I would have been chatting up the contest. I'm...

That sounds like a plan! I have the TIE and the TIE Interceptor, and I'm planning on building them together when it's their turn on the bench. But I have to do more research, because it seems like there have been several variations as to the "proper" colors for TIEs. Even the ones in Sculp...

Why not work on both the TIE and the TIE Interceptor? You can work on them both, alternating while one is drying, and probably use the same paint on both as well.

Sorry for the delay in getting these photos posted. It's been one of those weeks here, and my wife and youngest daughter were gone for two days on an overnight class field trip. They got home around 7:00 tonight, we went out to dinner, came home, and everyone else is already in bed. By the clock on ...

Building one today . . .

And I'll have photos up tomorrow. Even though I'm not participating in the contest, I figured I would still have some fun. Kit is assembled, waiting for the glue in the gaps to dry prior to sanding, then outside for some rattlecan painting before I start work on the detailing. Decal work should be d...

The entire point was to offer an anonymous voting system, as SSM does for the main contests. That way you don't vote for one person just because of name recognition. It's a level playing field where everyone has a chance, whether they've been building for 5 days, 5 months, or 5 years. For anybody th...

After some PMs with Nicholas, we’re trying to streamline the One-Day Build Challenge (“ODBC”) Contest. First off, Nicholas and I are going to bow out and not participate in the contest version of the challenge because of the administration portion. We want to offer folks an anonymous posting and vot...

I'm game. Just need to figure out a day when I can work, uninterrupted, on a kit.

And then there's the whole "what the frack do I build" question that has to be answered. But I have a few kits to choose from (about 450 unbuilt ones).

That was my first thought as well. The higher PSI is causing the paint to dry in-flight between the nozzle of the airbrush and the surface of the kit.

I have a pair of heavy-duty rubber gloves that I always use when working with Super Clean. I just didn't know if SC would harm resin. I've used it before on styrene and vinyl without a problem. Best method for stripping a resin kit

And no, don't tell me that dinner and a movie works best . . . . :D I have a resin kit that I need to completely strip and start over again. Hmmmm . . . . you might be able to airbrush the lighter base coat, and then use Pigma Micron archival ink pens to do the detailing. I use 05 (0.45 mm), 03 (0.35 mm) and 01 (0.25 mm) black pens for doing panel lines on 1:100 scale Gundam kits. They're available in quite a few colors , including green...

I thin my acrylics with 70% isopropyl alcohol. The paint brands that I use include Model Master Acryl II, Tamiya, and Polly Scale. My normal cleaning routine is: Between coats of paint (same day, multiple applications), run a mixture of hot water & alcohol through the brush to blow the crud out....

For my gloss coats, all I use is Future floor finish (I think it's marketed under Pledge now, but I have an older bottle). It's made by S.C. Johnson. I paid $5.99 for a 27 fluid ounce bottle at my local Meijer store, and a bottle usually lasts me about a year. I don't use Testor's GlossCote any more...

I have one of the Iwata cleaning stations as well, and I love it. No problems with fumes at all. I use mostly Model Master Acryl II, Tami...
