On the silver - "bottom" of the bucket.

And use a white glue for the lens. Doesn't fog or damage the plastic, and dries clear.

Re: Painting Head Ligths and Spot lights.

I was thinking about painting the “Socket” they fit into silver and clear coating the glass part with future. This is what I have done in the past for car headlights. A higher reflecting surface for the bucket works better. Try chrome tape or the bright side of tinfoil. Don't forget to add a small ...

How hot was your water, and how long was the part in there?? As Ziz said, too many variables to give a complete solution. Try HOT hot water, as in boiling. Just get it in there, and then take it out again. Depending on how big/thick the part is, changes the soak time. Not much time is needed to get ...

Re: Where to get large diameter styrene tubing?

Plastruct and Evergreen don't have anything remotely that large... Oh yes they do. I mean, Plastruct does. I just placed an order (like 10 minutes ago) for some up to 3" in OD. OK. Sorry. That's NOT styrene. That stuff is Butyrate and ABS. But it all can be cut, glued (regular solvent glue too...

Simply, you can't. Once a decal is laid down, it's done. They can NOT be removed intact, and if they manage to flake off in one piece, it can NOT be reused. You didn't mention what 1701 kit (there are a few :)). But there are replacement decals for ALL of them, and they are reasonably priced. Just c...

That's exactly what I meant. The panels and such are bigger than most car panels, but the principle is the same. I'm thinking I may divide part #1 into left/right halves, or top/bottom. Which ever is best to hide the seem work after. That would make the master, and molds, more manageable. Parts #2 &...

No. But a pair of clippers sounds like the route to go. That poor RTV, being stuck to a dog. :(

My ship will be oddly shaped by Trek standards as it was (susoposedly) built in 2060 and the last major refit was in 2072. Easy Off Oven Cleaner. A quick spritz, let sit 20 minutes, lightly scrub with old toothbrush (or your sister's) under warm running water. Rinse, repeat as needed. Good for removing paint from ALL materials. Will not harm plastic or even clear parts.
