As long as it says Aqua Gloss, you're good to go.

Re: The Frugal Airbrusher
So glad I found this thread. I'm just starting down the path of craft paints myself. I'm going to try the thinners mentioned here. I'm also going to maxing 50/50 with Liquitex Airbrush Medium, as noted by General Splatton on Youtube. MC Model Works on Youtube has a great three part video where he th...

I love it. If I'm not looking to add strength this is great. It's similar to acrylic modeling paste which is my filler of choice. This is more sticky than acrylic modeling paste and sets up more quickly. It's possible it provides a little strength because it polymerizes, not sure. I observed no shri...

Thanks Don, that helps a lot. A 50/50 duty cycle is fine with me, I'm only trying to approximate the blinking effect. I'll do a separate circuit for the warp engines, etc.. I'll try this on the 1/1400 scale Enterprise E and see how it works out. It looks like it might be up-scalable to do the blinke...

Feedback Request: Found a Plug 'n Play flasher at Walthers
I would like for Sparky, Tetsujin, et al. to look at this thing and give an opinion on whether it will work for the blinking anti-collision lights on the various Enterprises. http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/514-N8014 By all means, set me straight or steer me toward something you think will ...

A plug for Miniatronics
Hi All, I'm a fan of miniatronics, because they package electronics in a way that's friendly to hobbyists. They even bundle resistors with LEDs. I found their stuff in a train store, but we're all out-of-the-box thinkers here. Anyway, they finally have a web site, and you can get their stuff online ...

I just talk with my younger brother. He plays a miniatures game called Warmachine, and his team has a religious flavor. He plans to take a clear piece and reassemble the pieces to make a sort of stained glass affair. I recommended Tamiya clear, and he already knows about the goodness of Future. He m...

Wow, great ideas here. Lighting, display cases, concrete panels, the list goes on. I didn't completely visualize TonyT's idea, but I'll reread. For concrete panels, I can see hitting them with some primer, and then with Liquitex Pumice Gel or other acrylic medium. Water-washup spackling compound wou...

Discarded CD jewel cases
I recently salvaged some discarded CD jewel cases that were cracked or had broken hinges. I looked at the recycling symbol and it says, 'PS' which I hope is polystyrene. I also noticed that the clear parts crack in the same way that a window from a model kit cracks. :holmes: You guys probably know a...

Dang, you're right. One thing I was going to try was a bit of rough-sanding, and some Krylon Fusion as a base coat. It is marketed as having a reaction with plastic so that the final coating is more durable than it otherwise would be. At any rate, I hope I can find something that works, because it's...

After trying several adhesives, I found that I get get Elmer's Polyurethane adhesive to stick to HDPE pill bottles. I like this because HDPE bottles are rigid and plentiful (vitamins, aspirin, etc.). To my eye, the cylindrical symmetry opens up a lot of possibilities. My next goal is to find somethi...

In Praise of Tamiya cosmetics
Ok, so I'm working on a republic star destroyer, and spent time today on the engine parts. Days earlier I laid down a doat of Tamiya Silver Leaf from a rattle can (which I love!), and today I put down some 'Burnt Blue' from the Tamiya Weathering Master. It's my first time using the stuff over a meta...

Today I discovered and tried a new seam-filling agent at Hobby Lobby. At the model section they, they have their own house brand of CA glue, called 'Extreme Power'. The thin stuff in the fabulously pink bottle is very thin and flows along seams with VERY LITTLE persuasion. I had a couple runs, which...
