Re: cheap plastics or balaswood
https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic with above link, I looked up pricing for a clear acrylic sheet 1/2" x 20" x 20" -- price came out to around $65 (if I'm not mistaken, this doesn't include shipping). Not sure if this is within your budget ("small bu...

Re: cheap plastics or balaswood
Since you mention you're on a budget, have you considered papercraft? You can build relatively large objects using such techniques: http://www.coolthings.com/a-life-size-papercraft-honda-nsx-race-car/ perhaps you use combination of posterboard and foamboard that you can get from the dollar store? &q...

Re: Painting a Checkerboard pattern
If only "toon physics" and the like was real -- then it'll be a simple matter of opening up that can of checkerboard paint.
It would be cool if it was possible to create paint (say, with naonmachines) that would have capabilities of cuttlefish

Re: Soft Vinyl model needs some weight suggesstions needed for filler(s)!!!
As for filling a vinyl figure -- definitely want to do that to prevent the problem I saw at Anime Expo 199. The air conditioning in the main dealer's room was having difficulty, and the air conditioning in the secondary and tertiary dealer's room (these were added because they would've had too many ...

Re: Soft Vinyl model needs some weight suggesstions needed for filler(s)!!!
One caution about plaster -- the reaction is exothermic (i.e. gives off heat) when it is setting up -- likely to be hot enough that it may deform soft vinyl. Similarly resins could also get hot when they're setting up.

… It really does make one wonder, WHAT was Imai thinking, "back in the day"... when they used those awful bright colors, to inject their molds with. I had one of the original "Valkyrie-Gerwalk" Imai models, but at least mine was "shot" in a neutral grey color... (circa...

Re: Why is my 555 timer not blinking?
I'd also like to remind everyone how easy this is with a Microcontroller like Arduino: You can set those two values however you like. There's no restriction on the duty cycle as there is with a 555, and you don't need to rewire your circuit if you change your mind about the flash rate or duty cycle...

This Forum clearly no longer has active, 24/7 moderation. There's simply no substitute for someone being able to see a New Post and to then kick it into quarantine, at the very, very least. People have lives, and this is a *free* forum, so nobody's getting paid to moderate. Yeah, SPAM is annoying, ...

Re: Will vinyl and styrene glue together??
Is the vinyl really vinyl and not polyethylene? Don't let styrene and vinyl touch. The vinyl might soften. Create a barrier between the two materials. Put a thin layer of epoxy on one part. Let it set. Epoxy it to the other. http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/p/91997/899668.aspx http...

I've helped moderate forums in the past and would volunteer here. As it is I need to remember to not try and come here during work now because of the images they're embedding. There are laser printers that print white http://www.okidata.com/printers/color/c711wt (but a tad pricey at around $3400) With regards to artwork -- it's best if you create the image in a "vector-type" or "object-type" format (i.e. using a "draw" type program like Corel...
