"Klean Clay" for mold making?

In the past I have heard about this Klean Clay, that was safe to use in microwave's to warm and soften up for setting up for molds without blowing the microwave I now need some more clay for some bigger molds and was wondering if the stuff being sold here is the right stuff to get? http://cgi.ebay.c...

the problem as of right now seems to be the catalyst being too cold as the molds from last night are nice and set up now and i hope to try to get the second half of the molds done tonight.

this would be great if that's all it was (cold catalyst) as i can start getting back on track.

well, the air is a bit dry in the house, but i thought if anything the lack of moisture would be better as it would help dry the surface of the mold. i could leave the next set of molds int he basment for curing as the basement is a touch damp right now. as to the color and such, i use a paint stick...

what a let down.............. I just went and checked the molds this morning and they still have that tacky / gooy feel to them when they are touched. I thought for sure that warming up the rubber and catalyst would have helped......... I did get a new tub of rubber the day before. It's still all in...

I just put the batch of mixed rubber into th tank, set the timer for 7 - 8 minutes and walk away. as for tanks, i have bought a few of them tanks from HF. My first tank was a Sears painters tank and that was hard to find. now ...

I think i had Polytek (I think) clear resin before, but you need to use a blue rtv rubber with it. i had someone do a few sample casts, but the rest was tossed out (the resin) as it only sat for the next few years. my problem is, heating up the molds and tanks, i have one tank, but it won't go above...

Clear Resin - What do you use? What must you do to use it?

I have spoken to one of the Tech's at Smooth-on and they tell me i need a resperator, a vaccum chamber, a pressure pot. what they tell me, it's a bit of work just to use and it seems to be on the harsh side of resins. I am just wondering, what clear resins do any of you use. How does it tuen out? wh...

I found the papers on the rubber (they were in the dambest place) and it called for 4 hours at 212 degrees. the only problem now is, the oven smeels of the rubber! I have heated it up 3 times now and the smell is just about gone.......

DasPhule And dude, stop wiping the molds with alcohol! That is what is inhibiting the curing of the resin to begin with. Only release agents should touch the mold, ever. sorry, i'll have to read what I posted earlier to make sure it's readying the way I was thinking, but........ What i was saying a...

cobywan And no. Not all resin kits are like this. There are companies that make resin kits that actually know what they are doing. Yes, some of us do try to know what where doing (if not, some of us ask questions on the message boards here). I normally just buy regular automotive primer either from...

i thought of a few other questions since that post....... when i bake, do i need to worry about scrubbing out the oven afterwards or is it safe to cook in afterwards? Casting problems, looking for help

I have started using Polytek's resin (about 3 - months ago) Easy Flo 65 and like it. I'm about to finish my current 2 gallon kit and order more. I thought since I am using their resin, I'll try some of their rubber mold material too (why not, just order all of my supplies from one place). I bought a...

is it bubbles or holes?

is it the same little holes showing up or new ones?

sounds like the kit wasn't pressurized when cast.
