Alternative to Micro Kristal Klear

Does anyone know of a good alternative for Micro Kristal Klear? Looking for something to make clear windows on my model.

Better option for cutting brass tubing

Morning everyone. I am looking for a way to cut small diameter brass tubing. I've tried using a hack saw, works fine, but I need to cut smaller pieces for a flash suppressor on several barrels for the AMT/Ertl MF. I've tried a rotorary tool, but I am not getting a a good cut. (Might be the no-name d...

Easy off should do it, but I will definitely stress the need to wear gloves, old clothes, and eye protection. That stuff can be nasty on the skin. The Simple Green did well on most of the paint except for the Krylon white on my model. Before: http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/marc_d_tyler/Cor...

I can definitely say that Simple green worked. Had issues stripping the paint off of my AMT/Ertl MF. Oven cleaner took off most of it but the area that was really caked on with 3 different colors layered on the back end. Soaked it with some Simple Green and used a "chisel" once it was soft...

Sub assemblies painted, best glue to put them together

I have to admit, I've been looking into this but I think I am just missing this most basic concept. I understand the need to build and paint in subassmeblies, but to minimize on sanding the joins, what is the best type of glue to use? Epoxy or superglue I'm aware that good ol' styrene glue is pain t...

Stripping paint with Oxi-Clean

Just read in the latest issue of FSM about stripping paint from a model using warm water and Oxi-Clean. Has anyone done this before? If so how successful (other then the great work on the model that was shown in FSM) and was it easier and less abrasive then using oven cleaner? Currently stripping th...

Anyone use Blue Hawks rotary tool?

Happen to notice in the paper that Lowes is selling a rotary tool with accessories for 60% off. The company is Blue Hawk, never heard of them and reviews are scarce. Has anyone used this particular brand before?

No air under 30psi

Evening everyone. I had the chance to experiment with my airbrush for the first time. Interesting expereince to say the least. I am using a Badger 180-1 with a Paasche H single action action airbrush. I bought a regulator and moisture trap and I assembled it without harming myself in the process. Wh...

Designing a spraybooth

Morning everyone. While looking over various forums dealing with spraying paints I have come to the conclusion a person can go insane trying to filter the information on what is needed or not needed. My problem is this. I will be using my airbrush in the basement. Unfortunately since we are renting,...

Taking the AB plunge.

Well I just picked up a Badger 180-1 for $30.00. Unknown if the regulator is included. If not is it a must have? Also, will there be an issue with attaching it to a Paasche hairbrush?

Painting wit acrylics... heater about 20-30 feet away. :)

Okay, I understand the need to vent the fumes when you are painting. Got that part. Yet is anyone using their airbrush to paint in the basement with the heater and water heater about 20-30 feet away that is an enclosed room, is the distance an issue? As it stands, I am nto going to be able to vent t...

Amount of paint used for airbrushing

This may be added to the silly question column, but I was wondering, exactly how much paint is used to airbrush say a base coat of a model? Do you find yourself going through a whole 1/2 oz bottle for a model the size of say BSG Viper or any of the Star Trek/Star Wars ships? I have an idea when I ha...

I am about to get Badger 180-1(with the blue case). Is anyone still using this compressor? Any issues using it with a different brand airbrush such as a Paasche?

I've tried looking through the forums, but I am getting cross eyed. Looking into getting this as my starter compressor before moving up to something else? Has anyone used this? Thougths on it? Thanks in advance.
