Make sure the board still works by hooking it up to a good 9V battery. If the board's okay, make sure the adapter is wired to the board with the correct polarity. If that's right, the problem is probably that the adapter is putting out something other than steady DC, like rectified AC. This makes y...

I tried that, nothing. That's why I'm stumped. Did that with two different adapters and still the circuit didn't light. Yet at the battery it does. I'm thinking that the circuit is safe guarded at 9v and adapters actually give off a bit above 9v. That's why the circuit lights at the battery and not ...

Strobe/Flasher circuit
For those who know way more than I do. I purchased a single LED Flasher circuit from the Fiber Optic Store. This product here: http://www.fiberopticproducts.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=3_72_73&products_id=1264 And it comes pre-wired to a 9v battery clip. I wanted to hard wire it to a perman...

Just found out by some guys at SMA that you can use various amounts of Tamiya Flat mixed with Future and get great results. Scott from Elm City Hobbies uses this recipe. 1 part flat base to 3 parts Future = very flat 1 part flat base to 10 parts Future = flat 1 part flat base to 15 parts Future = sa...

What type of wire do you use?
Kind of curious as to what you guys use. I've been using 30 gauge Kynar wire and I find that after several runs of testing my lighting, connecting to power and so forth, the circuit fails and nothing lights. (this drives me nuts as I have to undo all my work and sometimes do it thru finished product...

Not familiar with it. Have used the blue stuff from Microscale. Works pretty good but seems that rubber cement could do the same thing. Though I think it would be impossible to control. The blue liquid mask by Microscale can be brush on and has very good surface tension as long as you use it on a fl...

This also has the best results. Dries very quickly, doesnt run. It is also very tran...

Panavise ball mounts. Sturdiest ball mount I know of. True....I keep one on my desk for holding large parts that I'm working on for various reasons. Panavise should even be overkill for an Ani SD. All the better. JM that is a great mount for models....nice job. Hey Nick if you can show a pic with i...

I have the thick gel-like Gorilla Glue but never tried it on FO. My experience with CA and FO comes from using the Crazy Glue brand. That stuff made the fiber brittle. Maybe it's far hotter then other CA formula's but I'm from the understanding that CA is a glue, not a solvent. I guess it could be j...

Not many options when it comes to gluing these puppy's in. In thinking outside the box you may have a bit of luck with rubber cement just as long as there is little to no tension on the FO. Yeah, my experience with FO and CA has been the same as yours, fiber gets brittle and easily breaks. Love to k...

hot glue, and its weird that CA glue melted your FO. i know if youput baking soda on CA glue it makes it dry in an instant. but it makes alot or heat doing that, enough to burn your skin. os thats a bad idea to use, but i've never had a problem with just CA glue I actually used that method for inst...

I use CA to glue the fiber optic. Really? And it doesn't melt your optics? What brand CA are you using that this has no effect on FO? Unless your using fishing line as your FO. It does work but light is dim out the cut end. I use white glue as in Elmers. The problem with white glue is that it needs...

Florjon do a search here on SSM on this subject. There is a thread that covers this exact problem with the resin warping on the kit. I believe it was Robiwon that did a pretty well written explanation on how to correct this very simply. In a nut shell he demonstrated it using strips of aluminum that...

Ty I recently made my own registry decals for a Battle of Midway Buffalo and ran into the same issue with the ink running when I AB Future over to seal them. I had read you should do exactly that but the result was disastrous. I then researched a bit more and found you can apply Microscale Liquid De...
