On the cheap, get a 9 volt battery and some pre-wired LEDs that have resistors already in them. I have bought some from this site.

You have a 9 volt battery. Did you buy more than 1 color? The chart for the LEDs shows the voltage range for each color.

Log in to site first, then click on product and choose number of items. Press back order>window pops up to ask if you are ok with back order>click it and it goes into cart.

Thanks for posting tetsujin. I had forgotten. I ordered 2 redboards. Great deal for $9 a pop.

Parallel is the better option from the point of view that if one LED burns out, the others stay lit. Lose an LED in series and that and all LEDs after it in the string are out, regardless of power source.

You need to read the specs on the LED tape. They have built in resistors don't they? So you just need the voltage rating.

Average LED takes 20 milliamps. 50 LEDs would need at least a 1 amp power supply. Better to have a little more than needed, than come up short. If your strobe is off a 555 or 556 timer, you lose about 2 volts through it. For my project right now, I am using 4 AAs for 6 volts, dropping 2 Volts across...

Are the LEDs wired in parallel or series with the strip? Series will eat up the voltage so that both won't light and parallel might have resistance issues if the resistance isn't equal between the strip and other LEDs. Try having the LEDs and strip have there own feed from the battery.

I'm finally getting going on an AMT special edition enterprise with some changes and this is the first model that I have tried to light. I just sprayed the insides flat black and wondered how long to wait before spraying flat white. Thanks.

It's not that simple. This is a very ambitious 100 LED+ project. You should start with something smaller and a few LEDS. The wall wart will have a barrel connection. How were you planning to connect bare wires to it? Do you know what to look for in a wall wart? You are going to need something in the...

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/114 Something like this I guess. I'm working on smaller stuff where a 9 volt battery is fine though. Are you planning to have flashing Nav and Strobe lights? That will mean a 555 or 556 timer on a PCB board that the above breadboard power supply could be mounted on.
