You will need to have a non-common layer. For example, if you're using enamels, seal them with lacquer or acrylic. Otherwise, if you wash with oils - cut in paint thinner or turps, you will remove base coat or damage it. So, let the enamels cure for a couple of days, overcoat with glosscoat (when I ...

Copied from my pastels post - my favorite new method. It's so nice... Recently I experimented with a new wash technique. I've used enamels and oil paints mixed into mineral spirits. Enamels must be removed with more mineral spirits - which makes them resiliant and durable, but not freindly. Oils may...

You're probably running at too high pressure and too thick paint, Brian. Experiment with a thinner mixture and dial your pressure back some- it will take some time.

The 155 is a good brush for pretty fine lines. It's essentially similar to my Omni 3000, and there's few things I can't do with that.

Don't try to get a uniform glossy coat in one coat. You'll probably get better results with a fine coat first, and a couple more coats to get a good, hard glosscoat. It can be removed with an ammonia-containing cleaner, if all else fails. Of course, this could easily remove your paint... Where are y...

It was a good listing of the models available, and some of their features. I want to keep a listing of peoples' experience with various models, what they use them for etc. It was nice to see the roundup in the magazine, and well overdue, I think. FSM does a good job at these things.

It's good to see the comparisons. Clyde "En'til'Zog" Jones, Erin Lantz and Mark Yungblut all have several reviews. It's interesting to see how they rate different airbrushes. Some guys have LOTS of airbrushes. I'm glad so many people responded, it's also why it took so long to build up a l...

It seems all those are single-action.

Don't write until we see next month's installment, which should be double-action, and should have a whole lot of airbrushes.

I've got an Omni 3000, it's kind of the prototype for the Badger 155/360. Very good brush, and parts are cheap. I'm finding something of split between Iwata and Badger. Many figure painters use Iwatas - for a long time the HP-A series were the best detail brushes around, and loyalties die hard. The ...

It probably is a Badger. You can send them back to Badger for refurbishment, if you want. It easily could be a bad seal, espescially if you use a lot of lacquers.

We will definitely want to prepare outlines - relatively detailed is probably good. Remember, it always takes longer than you think to show techniques.

OK, folks. We've seen three different proposals. Karen's idea of sign-ups for the four tables; Steve's idea of splitting each section into subsections teaching separate skills in a given category and my idea of a fixed rotation between the four subjects. Do we have consensus? Vote and leave comments...

Hi. I would like to assemble information about the various models of airbrushes people use and distill it into a roundup type article. This would let people view the features and impressions of a number of airbrushes while making their decision about which to purchase. If you are interested in parti...
