Thanks! I actually hired an unemployed English teacher (and friend) to do it, I think she did pretty well. To power my kits (all my kits) you can use a pack of 8 batteries in series to make 12VDC or you can use a 12VDC wall transformer. 8 AA batteries will work, or to last a month, 8 D cells will wo...

Very good prices, not sure how you get em so low but yea, real good. I'm curious, what kind of chip is your buddy burning? Some PIC micro or FPGA device? How is he protecting it from shorts, reverse hookups, etc? Sure, its possible to program just a tiny PIC micro to do those things but unless the c...

Re: Lenses
Hi there, I read somewhere (I think it was Finescale Modeler) that the tip of each fiber optic strand had to be heated in order to form a round head on top while keeping it flat against the model. The article advised to heat the tip of the strand aginst a light bulb or an incense stick and then, pu...

I recommend Umi's suggestion for the adjustable regulator module. There's a few reasons: 1) High efficiency, you wont be dumping heat into your model and possibly warping it. 2) Easy. That adjustable 3 terminal rig is probably the easiest way I've ever seen to use a high efficiency 3 terminal regula...

Are you one of my lucky first few customers? I was thinking of tweaking the FX so the red light of the torpedo is on about 10% power all the time, like in the movies... what do you think? Right now, SSM Store has all the units built, all 5 of them. Next week after we finish decompressing from WF we'...

What are people looking for in a Klingon lighting kit?
HI folks, A little customer feedback please! I'm designing a lighting kit for "most Klingon" ships and here's what I've got so far: Torpedo Effect: One red, one white LED, plus some fiber optic bundle. Red is on dimly all the time, then when the Fire button is pressed you get a quick ramp ...
