Thanks! I actually hired an unemployed English teacher (and friend) to do it, I think she did pretty well. To power my kits (all my kits) you can use a pack of 8 batteries in series to make 12VDC or you can use a 12VDC wall transformer. 8 AA batteries will work, or to last a month, 8 D cells will wo...

OK, I see whats going on, he's got just the chips with a tiny thin card. OK, that makes sense. Glad you're interested in a Damaged ship FX project. Thats been on the to-do list a while just needed a good round-to-it to get started. Right now I'm working on a whole new website for MML (actually my wi...

Very good prices, not sure how you get em so low but yea, real good. I'm curious, what kind of chip is your buddy burning? Some PIC micro or FPGA device? How is he protecting it from shorts, reverse hookups, etc? Sure, its possible to program just a tiny PIC micro to do those things but unless the c...

I've written a pretty good article on how to light a big model, the 350th scale NX-01, and I'm willing to pass it on to those interested.

Granted, it shows how to use my product, but it also covers how to use LEDs and fiber optics as well.

Re: Lenses

Hi there, I read somewhere (I think it was Finescale Modeler) that the tip of each fiber optic strand had to be heated in order to form a round head on top while keeping it flat against the model. The article advised to heat the tip of the strand aginst a light bulb or an incense stick and then, pu...

Anybody tried an Arduino for this? I've never used them but I've heard they're really easy to use and get started with. IMHO, this is definitely a microcontroller project. How about a BASIC STAMP too?

(No, my controller cannot do this effect, there's way too many LEDs).

I recommend Umi's suggestion for the adjustable regulator module. There's a few reasons: 1) High efficiency, you wont be dumping heat into your model and possibly warping it. 2) Easy. That adjustable 3 terminal rig is probably the easiest way I've ever seen to use a high efficiency 3 terminal regula...

Are you one of my lucky first few customers? I was thinking of tweaking the FX so the red light of the torpedo is on about 10% power all the time, like in the movies... what do you think? Cutting the fiber optic is pretty easy... they're just plastic. If you want it shorter length-wise, just about anything will work. If you want to divide it in half, use an X-acto knife and split the jacket along its length, then just pull out as many fibers as you want. Here's a neat trick... Warm u...

You wouldnt have to use the flickering engine FX, just not hook it up. To add warp engine effects for those bigger ships, which would be constant on LEDs, probably two reds and maybe 4 greens, we'd have to go to the "BIG Klingon Lighting kit" which would add another circuit card to drive t...

What are people looking for in a Klingon lighting kit?

HI folks, A little customer feedback please! I'm designing a lighting kit for "most Klingon" ships and here's what I've got so far: Torpedo Effect: One red, one white LED, plus some fiber optic bundle. Red is on dimly all the time, then when the Fire button is pressed you get a quick ramp ...
