Okay, I've tried three different types of matte finish and they've all turned glossy. There must be some wierd chemical reaction going on here. Even grinding pastels into it with a stuff brush hasn't killed the gloss completely. At this point I'm on the verge of stripping and repainting the damn thi...

Help! I hope someone can aswer this quick as I need to get this project finished and I'm hitting the craft store tomorrow. Can you guys recomend a good dullcoat over Acrylic? I hit my latest project with Testors from a spray can and it actually turned it glossy! Even pastels can't seem to knock down...

I've been having trouble with my latex 'Thing is a jars' soaking up water , swelling, and turning from clear to milky white. I'm wondering, is Future waterproof, and would it stand up to prolonged submersion?

Help fixing the angle on a warp pylon?

Okay, before I say anything else, this is my very first attempt at a serious scratchbuild that doesn't use existing parts. Its mainly just an 'I'm bored' project , so I guess it won't be the end of the world if I end up chucking it all in the parts bin. I don't have any facy tools other than eyeball...

Time for my own supid questions. If these have been covered, I'd appreciate a point towards the proper thread/post. Whats the difference between Paint thinner, airbrush thinner, and airbrush cleaner? I generally use Model Masters paints in my airbrush. Is there other products commonly available besi...

Problem solved. I think I must've been thinning my paint too much, because a second coat of Camo Grey was plenty dark. *facepalm*

Thanks all for the tips. Now to let 'er dry for a day, then start glosscoating.

Filling seams on light colored plastic?

I'm having a real problem fixing the gaps on my Enterise-E because the white plastic makes it very hard to see whether they're smooth or not. I don't want to overspray with a darker color since the finished model will be an overall light Camoflague Grey.

Any tips?

Helped a little bit, but also removed paint from the edges and some of the thinner spots. :p

Would a couple coats of Future, with an overspray of dullcoat to knock down the shine do the trick?

Bumping. I'm kinda in the same boat here with the cockpit canopy of my TOS Cylon Raider. The way its shaped its almost impossible to mask for airbrushing, so brushing it is. Since its flat black, the fine scratches are only noticable when the light hits it the right way. Hoping some fine sanding and...

Seems like a super glue brush applicator would dry and get gummed up awfully fast. Me, I just use the local store brand in plastic bottles, and use a needle to apply.

Hi seam-filler. I also have the same problem like how to clean the files because that files sometimes lose easily. TO come out of this problem, files and directories may pile up in your working directory that are left over from merges, generated, perhaps got mistakenly put there. Whatever the case,...

I know a lot of people are disdainful of Testors white tube putty. But what I love about it is it can be thinned with plain rubbing alcohol. So I glop it on, let it dry, then basically just smooth it out with an alcohol dipped Q-tip before I do any sanding. Currently starting a Revell Cylon Raider. ...

Another vote for plain ol oven cleaner. I spritzed some Easy Off on the crome parts of my PL D-7 and the chrome flaked right off after a few minutes. Just do it in the sink and scrub carefully with an old toothbrush.

A dumb question, but any suggestions on a good starter set that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm not planning to go into production, just want to make 2-3 copies of a couple of a few small model parts.

Oops sorry. It was Testors 'Bright White'. And yeah, except for some touch ups, the entire model is a nice glossy white. :p

Basically I'll be masking off the nosecone and white wing and fuselage stripes, then oversprayed the entire thing with matte red.

Dull paint over gloss?

Okay, I've got a noob question (Sorry if this has been covered before. I couldn't find it with SEARCH). Picked up a rattlecan of white to use as a primer/undercoat for a mostly red Macross fighter (with white stripes showing through). Unfortunately I discovered too late that it was gloss (they need ...

Good online shop for airbrush supplies?

Since I'm using my old Paasche VL brush more and more these days, I'd really like to buy some extra tips and pins. I found plenty of online stores that sell them, but as always I'm looking for the most reliable dealer for the money. Can anyone recommend a place they've dealt with?

Please do. I've already gone and ordered Aztec Dummy's template set, however there are still some letters, circles and other small markings that I'd like to try and salvage from this mess, so I'm gonna hit it with quite a few thick coats of fixative and hope for the best. Probably do the same with t...

Ruined decals. What did I do wrong?

Ugh, mad enough to spit nails. I was really looking forward to getting a nice, azteked surface on my NX Enterprise, so I ordered the JDL decal set. Looked great! Figured I'd start with one of the large panelled areas in front of the bridge. I followed the instructions and cut the larger decal into s...
