Has anyone had any experience with these two products? Just wondering the difference in final appearance. Why choose one over the other?

Have you looked at Vallejo paint? They have a few shades of orange that may be what you are looking for:

I was watching a modeling video on YouTube on the construction of a Macross fighter. The inside of the canopy was lightly sanded and a compound was rubbed on the inside. The video was in Japanese so can someone please explain this technique? Also what kind of compound can be used?
