Re: Making decals

Simple question. Why is Laserjet better than Inkjet? In a recent live show on Flory Models Phil says the opposite. In this aspect of my question I'd be interested in the reasons why by comparison. His mentioning this is the inspiration for my curiosity. I wanted the take on this topic from members h...

Re: Has Ambroid disappeared?

Picked up the Flex I File at Hobby Lobby with their 40%off coupon as DaveVan suggested. $5.20 with Suffolk County's .08625 tax rate. In a twist of fate my LHS is in the same shopping center so I cruised on in and picked up Tamiya's new P-38F/G Lightning. Tamiya has upped their bar on this kit if any...

Has Ambroid disappeared?

As the thread reads.
Haven't seen this at my local hobby shop lately and online searches lead to Same Stuff from MicroMart. Anybody know what happened here?

Besides Tanex as a slightly more aggressive alternative ant other alternatives you guys like?

In search of a variable rate strobe circuit

Before I go out and purchase all the components to make one myself, like the one from All Electronics ( which isn't variable) does anybody know of a single chip that lights up only 1 white LED with a variable rate pot? Years ago I had seen one but have long forgotten the LED shop that sold it. Thank...

I pretty much use gray sandable acrylic auto primer on my builds. Sometimes, depending on whether I want "pre-shading" underneath, I use black. I have found that most rattle can primers except Mr.Color and Tamiya fill too much detail for most builds. You really cannot beat the airbrush pr...

Bundling fiber optic

Curious as to how guys proceed with this. This is in regards to loose strands, from two or three strands to, say 50. Do you just stuff them in to a tube, straw, cut pipe? Hot glue, white glue them in said tube so they don't pop out? Use shrink wrap around the LED or just electrical tape? Do you let ...

Simon Merks just mentioned doing this on his current 350 build. He uses the gels to diffuse LED strip in the nacelles. So yes, you can glue them in on top of the grills on the inside of the engines.

pawces to answer the "small circles" enigma get your self some circle scribing templates. There are so many out in the market so try Staples or Office Max for starters. They'll have them in the drafting department and also have sets of squares, rectangles, ovals, and odd shapes all of vari...

I've never tried this before but I think your answer lays with the final clear coat you put over them. I'm thinking you'll need to remove the top clear coat layer first then try gently pulling the decals up with a low tack tape so as to not lift up and damage the paint job on the base coat.

Elmers glue for anything up to about 1/4 inch, and once it's dry, a drop of clear enamel for gloss. And it's easy. Once the model is painted, get a drop of glue on the end of a toothpick and twirl it into the opening and move on to the next one. Let it dry thoroughly- maybe a couple of days until t...

Just a guess but are you running sufficient mA through the window circuit? If the NAV and strobes are running and the impulse engines light it tells me the circuits are drawing more mA to get their LED's to pulse leaving enough for the red LED's for the impulse engines to fire but none for the windo...

Always use a sanding block. If you just use your fingers, you get "waves" in the surface, or valleys. [/color] Always wet sand. Keeps the paper cleaner; clogged paper causes grooves and scratches. The wet surface also makes it easier to spot irregularities, especially waves. Probably not ...
