I've had a few 1/35 military figures that are doing this. They've sat in boxes for the last few years till I figured out what the hell to do about them. Might have to give a few of these suggestions a try.

Having the same problems! UK SF modellers seem to get the sort end of the stick. I'm not sure if I want to risk buying a kit or built circuit from the states only to find it doesn't work.
On the plus side Maplins sell a few goodlittle kits that run on 9v. The strobe kit can be very useful.

I plan on using a similar item in three lighted kits. The AMT Reliant, Runabout and the big PL Enterprise refit.
Theyre great and really easy to use. Never fancied using complicted circuits in my models, and I can get these over and around the E's shuttle bay with no hassle!
