Clean-up and Priming Shapeways parts...?

Heya, Folks, Just got my first two printed items from Shapeways... Was wondering if there were any tips on cleaning them up and priming them? Basically, I am just looking for advice on what I can safely give the two items a bath in and then prime them with? Primer-wise, I was going to go with Tamiya...

Thanks, Folks! Sounds like messin' with the CF is just going to be messy, so I'll nix that. Looks like either piano wire or floral stemware... I can get piano wire at my LHS, but, where can I pick up floral stemware...? Do I get it at a craft store like Michaels or do I have to go to a flower store ...
