...I was awake. Really! Mark Y.'s scratchbuilding article is fairly relevant for this project: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/tech/my_scratch.htm And Chris D still has a great article on scratchbuilding: http://www.christopher-doll.com/scratchbuilding-a-model-of-moya-from-farscape/ I really need to ...

Sink me. The links above are the first time I've ever really looked at Cowboy's Star Semi...and the three pods just lept out at me. Those are are the tops of the old, old Lindberg ( Ex-Strombecker? ) Lunar lander, aren't they? I only know this because I put a couple of them together just like that ...

That is a fantastic replica! You really nailed it- Thanks - but the link is of the build Lee Stringer did! :8) My build is still in progress. And in multiple boxes in the Modeling Cave... ---- ...and some of the greeblies I'm using will not match the screencaps, either! Especially when I have to re...

...slowly, yes. :8) I've had a ton of help from Lee Stringer, or else I couldn't have gotten as far as I have. Well, I *could* have, it just wouldn't quite be the same as what is in the film. Since Wonderfest I've been on summer break from most modeling - summer in The South means yardwork, gardenin...

That should help a bit.

I've done that with Magicsculpt (pretty much the same stuff as Aves putty). I prefer these two putties to Sculpy because they air-cure over several hours. I'll see about getting some links up to pics showing what I've done. Modelnutz saw one of these at Wonderfest and in a calm, patient voice explai...

Finding decent affordable J-79's really isn't easy. I don't know of any in 1/48 scale. The only (sorta) readily available ones that I am familiar with are the 1/32 engines that were in Revell's 1/32 Phantom and Hasegawa's 1/32 scale F-104. The only other jet engines that I know of are the old Aurora...

When I lived in Memphis, Norrell Inc Plastics on Winhoma Drive was literally across the street from my apartment. Great prices, helpful staff, and I loved raiding their scrap bin at 20 cents/lb of plastic. Google shows that they are still in the same location, but I'll bet their prices have increase...

Various Devcon-brand epoxies (5-Minute Epoxy, 30-Minute Epoxy, 2-Ton epoxy), all work well with resin models, in my experience. Make sure the surfaces to be glued are freakin' CLEAN! A downside is that the remaining un-used product really doesn't store well, so consider 'production lining' some buil...
