Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

For about ten years now I've wanted to build a StarGate Diorama in 1/35th scale. A Gate would be in the center of the dio side on, on one side we see the team running up the steps to the wormhole being chased by Velociraptors, close on their heals. On the other side of the gate the first team membe...

Re: DSEV Chesley Bonestell

Absolutely spectacular!
Well balanced design, works at multiple distances- looks good far away and when you get closer it works at another level. I think my favorite detail is the structural ribs behind the forward dome, has a Syd Mead pragmatic vibe...

This is the first time I have been blocked from even looking at a locked thread, typically they linger around like normal threads until they get pruned due lack of activity.
Been a member for quite a while and this is new, I wonder since it follows the site crash if there might be a connection ...

Re: Alternative to soldering wires for lighting

Never used it with a commissioned build but I had success for many years just wrapping the two wires together, not elegant but there is no stress on them inside the model.
In around 40 lighted models I only had two have any sort of issue and those only lost one of the lights...

To be more accurate, I should have said a new "application" of technology.

Re: Review of Wireless LEDs

I can see this product being a good solution in very specific cases- those where it would be impossible of undesirable to have a wired LED connection. One such use could be if someone was trying to build a ship from that new Federation Starship design with separated nacelles in a display. Use a coup...

Interesting
The transform is identical, nice trick with the battery adapters. I just wired mine into those connectors.

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

I want to build a corner of a Rebel hangar showing a Y- Wing being stripped down for service, half the Clone Wars hull coverings in a pile on the ground, the remaining ones still in place I did this for one of the contests a few years ago. Didn't have the time to make as many panels, or go into the...

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

Well, a good friend of mine GAVE me his unfinished stash of models! So stoked! He decided he hadn't done any modelling in years, and didn't want them to go to waste. What does that have to do with this thread, you ask? Well, the diorama I've wanted to do for years I didn't have the kits for, and di...

Quick question about power substitution

My wife has a hanging display unit with LED lighting. It is powered by three AA batteries. I want to replace them with a wall wart power supply. What should I get?- I think 4.5v unit since the batteries are effectively connected in series (nose to tail with spring clips to arrange them side by side ...

Re: Using Blender and other 3D drawing tools for builds

Sounds interesting! Most of my experience is with Videoscape and Sculpt-Animate 4D on the Amiga, TrueSpace 3D on the PC and (I forget the name) on a Silicon Graphics Unix. I had a number of god programs on an older computer, 3D World magazine would include them on disc along with a demo vrsion of th...

Hope this works better than the last Conductive Paint I tested. That version had high resistance and did not cover well (tended to 'bead up' on most surfaces)- simple adhesive copper foil worked far better
