Thining paint

Out of curosity...what ratio y'all thin your airbrush paint at??? I am mainly painting Star Trek models, so I'm pretty much dealing w/ flats. According to my MM airbrush thinner bottel, it says that flats are 1pt thinner to 3 pts paint. I have heard of some doing 50:50 to 70:30(thinner:paint). All t...

Home Despot has probably the same compressor/brad nailer for $70. I'm had my eye on it since it arrived in the store(I part time there). Its got a 1 gal. tank, not sure how long the air would last before it would kick in. Dumb question, but on a tank compressor, when it kicks in, will that cause a &...

The main problem I'm having is it will still "bubble up" after repeated rinsing, soaked for 3 days, and re-rinsing. It may be because the water in my area is softer than a baby goose on a bag of cotton balls. I was scrubbing it w/ a toothbrush and it keeps "soaping up". Even when...

What's the best way to make sure you get ALL the Super Clean off your model that you have soaked in it?

I read an article about mixing the Future w/ food coloring and dipping a canopy of an aircraft to tint it.

I'm thinking of trying this when I work on my '69 Charger. Tint the back window.

Painting a Bird-of-Prey

I'm finally getting around to working on my BOP. I have all the sub-assemblies done, and ready to be assemblied. My question is this; Do most of y'all fully assemble the model first then paint & detail? or Do you paint, detail, then finish the assembly? (I'm not lighting this model, so I ya don'...

There is a "air dry" type of clay that litterally dries by air. I used to to construct Klingon ridges on a plastic skull to make the "Skull of Molar" Once I constructed them, I let it dry for about a day, then used Goop to attach it to the plastic skull. Primered and painted it. ...

On Monster House, they have used a spray foam, shaped, and covered w/ a hardener, then painted to simulatee rock. They actually showed the product's name one time and dummy me forgot to write it down. I would think you could use that Great Foam to make rocks and get a foam hardener to make it harder...

decals for P/L 1/1000 Enterprise

I'm wondering if the decals for the 1/1000 NX-01 ISS Enterprise will fit my P/L 1/1000 NCC-1701. I just bought(finally) the NCC-1701 P/L and plan on making the Mirror universe Enterprise. I really think the mirror universe markings on the NX-01 were totally cool and would like to know if the yellow ...

As per some of the "tips" section here, I have used the liquid Super-Glue and baby powder. I used it on my K'Tinga and the process worked really well. I saw at least 3 or 4 articles in the "tips" section on Super-glue and powders.

I had seen one place, an article about using Castrol Super Cleen to remove paint. Does anybody recall seeing that article or one like it.

I remember it compared Easy-Off and some other products.

Since Testors cement actually fuses the parts together, I'm not sure you can pull this off. Did you cement the entire joint or just the allignment pins, like I did when I first started modeling. I'm pretty sure I glued the whole thing. I tend to overdo things. I also used the Testors cement, since ...

un-glueing a x-wing

newbie here.I have recently gotten back in the modeling craze. I found an old x-wing fighter model I made(I'm talking early 80s maybe late 70s, when I was a kid.) I'm planing on re-doing the thing as part of a diarama kinda thing and I basically want to start over. The thing is unpainted so what I w...
