Logging in

Just tried to log in and in the upper left corner of my screen the refresh arrow circle kept spinning when I tried to go into Thunderdome and after about a minute I tried again and this time got an error notification. I then tried the address bar and was able to log in. Not sure if it's my laptop or...

I've bought glow in the dark paints for the same reason, glowing warp engines but they don't like styrene for some reason.

You should try it on some scrap plastic before trying it on the Razor Crest model.

Re: Recommendation for what to use for clear plastic

Evergreen scale models sells sheets of clear you could use, or you could use plastic from something which comes in clear plastic like a new mouse for the computer.

Re: Filling primers

Does plastruc, I think that's how it's spelled, make ABS strips of different sizes like Evergreen scale models does?? With the acrylic resin putty once you've smoothed it no sanding needed, atleast not heavy sanding anyway.

Re: Filling primers

You could try Vallejo resin putty, it's acrylic based and can be smoothed using your finger tips. Comes in a bottle or a tube.

I've still got a dozen or more of MM acrylic with the white and black label they used when they switched to their new formula.

Re: Goodbye, Model Master (update)

I just visited my LHS here in Sydney yesterday who told me that all Testors had stopped making all hobby related paints, spray cans etc. I decided to buy 4x cans dullcote to meet my modeling needs for the next few years. I’ve only just started weathering with oils and dullcote was perfect at protec...

Re: Q about thinning Mig acrylics

I've mixed craft store acrylics with MM acrylics with no problems but I will not mix Tamiya with MM acrylics simply because the Tamiya seems to have a lacquer scent. And if I remember right I've even mixed Tamiya with craft store acrylics once or twice and had no problems.

Re: Goodbye, Model Master (update)

The 3 hobby shops here in the Portland area I frequent all carry Model Master and Testors in enamel lacquer and acrylic, there's is a 4th shop though which does not carry the MM acrylics and that's only because the new owner say the acrylic does not sell.

I think turkey was asking about your source so to speak. In other words, How would your nephew know the business model if he didn’t have first hand knowledge? Right now I’m sure i cant trust anyone’s speculations as accurate unless it was released by the company. Yes I am aware of why he asked that...

Re: Stripping "chrome" off model pieces

The bleach I tried was purchased at a Fred Meyer store which was bought out by Kroger about 20 years ago and it cost .99 cents and then I went with the store brand at twice as much and they were both store brands. as for which works best it's hit and miss .

Re: Stripping "chrome" off model pieces

Currently I'm trying to strip the "chrome" off an old AMT 1:2500 Enterprise-D. The pieces have been sitting in bleach for a few hours now, and I'm not seeing much progress. The bleach is fresh, bought it just after Christmas. Is this a relatively quick process, or should I expect it to ta...

Re: Acrylic Paint Removal

What I usually do is dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and rub away on the plastic piece, but be warned the cotton swab gets old paint on it very fast plus you'll need to use several swabs.
