Stripping soft vinyl figures.

Sorry people if this has been posted but I did use the search engine.I wanted to strip the acrylic paint off of the C-3PO figure from the landspeeder kit because mine had a lot of dirt like particles in the paint plus I could remove some of the bigger seams with a new # 7 blade.I have had Goldenrod ...

Thanks,I am going to test this for sure and will use an enamel based clear like glosscoat on the cured glass like smooth Durhams water putty.I don't know about future acrylic floor polish but I know if Durhams is not sealed even after curing anything that is water based will cause it to break down.I...

Durham's water putty molds.

I have used this a lot for open molds because it is far cheaper than using my RTV for short term molding but since it is water based you have to spray a non water based clear coat before molding.I want to use this to make some small one time clear parts using 2 part clear store bought epoxy resin bu...

I got an experiment kit but was not overly thrilled.I got a sheet of white EL film and it is just not that bright unless in lower light settings.I know people that swear by it but it won't last anywhere as long as l.e.d.s. and this is what they use in those timex indiglo watches which dim over time....

Thanks for all the input guys.I have used CA gel for years, just not the Gorilla brand before.I do love this stuff but it seems to take a bit longer to cure but I can live with that due to how strong and non brittle it is.I too try to sand and shave ejector pins to get the best fit but as we all know...

Sorry,I didn't word it correctly.I'm not using the glue as a primer as I never tested the glue for filling gaps in kits.I do like the glue because it is slightly flexible which works great on thinner, smaller parts that are easily broken or subject to light bumps and knocks.I guess the real question ...

Gorilla Super Glue.

I tried this on some of the WOTW alien kits and it made a very strong bond but any gaps were filled with regular super glue gel because the Gorilla super glue has rubber particles embedded in it and when I tried testing it on ABS and styrene it gave a good bond but due to the rubber content you coul...

medium grey substitute

I'm going to be on a trip staying in a motel and wanted to work on the new Viper mk VII kit but won't take my airbrush because I'm not a fan of canned air so I will just use rattle cans instead. The cockpit instructions say it is supposed to be painted medium grey but model master doesn't make a medi...

Thanks, that sounds good to me.I may cut up a mat as well and glue it to dowel rods and square stock that can be put into a vice to get in tighter places like the Viper cockpit where some of the bezels are at an angle. Thanks for the heads up.

Using the punch sets from the store.

I purchased both of the punch sets a few months back but now need to use them and needed some advice.I was a parachute rigger in the 1980s so I have used plenty of punches to punch through nylon strap and such but we always used about a 12" round block of lead to use the punches. The lead was so...

LOL,no I actually live in western KY,the state not the jelly and the humidity is always usually 50% or higher.I stick with enamals for painting and l.e.d.s. for lighting because the humidity will eat lightsheets life a great deal but I did find a trick that I build into all lighted models.I save all...

I had some free time to do some airbrushing today and I was empty on thinner.Cheaper may not be the right word, but available closer,is there anything else available other than testors model master airbrush thinner? The airbrush thinner seems to be just distilled mineral spirits. This was not a problem...
