Preparing and painting 3D Printed parts from Shapeways

I just received my Hasbro 3D printed parts that are 'Frosted Ultra Detail'.

Has anyone worked with these and can they tell me what is the best way to prepare them for painting?

I know nothing about 'Micro Krystal Klear'. I hear it can make small windows and even used for gluing clear parts. - Since this is not a 2 part resin, how firm does it get? - does it shrink or yellow over time? - can it be sanded (lets say I want my Enterprise exterior windows flush with the hull) ...

Try this, take two blue 5mm LEDs and put one in each end of a plastic tube the length of the clear part so they are facing each other. You can get the right size from your hobby shop made by Evergreen or Plastruct. When lit it should provide a nice even glow behind it, almost like a flourescent tub...
