I agree with the esteemed mister Well. Tamiya white primer is excellent and one of the rare paints that sprays good out of a can (although the anal perfectionists among us will still decant it). I also recommend Mister surfacer 1000 in the can. For brighter colors, you want white or light gray. Type...

Depending on the effect you want, go over the panel lines with a fine tipped or wider tipped Sharpie marker - or any marker with permanant ink. The fine tipped will keep the shading in the panel line, the wider tip will leak over to give the panel some depth. Both have worked well for me and are far...

Can't you get a small bottle of touch up paint from the dealer? Automotive laquer is potent so don't spray it on bare plastic.

The only thing I can think of to get the effect you want is to start over and drybrush it very heavily, with a lighter color. Then re-apply your paint chipping. It will tone down the dryburshing effect like it did before but the more intense drybrushing will keep the weathered effect.

I don't understand what you are asking. You weathered the model with some drybrushing, then added some paint chipping and covered up the drybrushing? If the paint chips cover the drybrushing I don't understand how you wish to put the drybrushing effect back without covering up the paint chips. It so...

Laquer smell BAD!

Okay just curious as to whether anyone else experiences this or knows why I do. I bought my first bottle of laquer thinner in preparation for using Alclad II on a P-47D and to clean my a/b which I had forgot to clean one day and needed to get the arylic paint out of it. I just did the same with my p...

Pinesol, the plain unflavored kind, works great and doesn't have as harsh an odor as chlorine. Again, soak in shallow pan overnite.

Dunno if it will help but Revell puts some in flight models. They are 72nd scale planes suspened above a magnetic base with fishing line. I always thought of getting one to pirate the parts from.

I voted for Corellian Freighters myself as, like in a parallel thread on the Star Wars forum, I always wanted to scratchbash an Otana. But technically any Corellian Freighter could be a New Republic Ship which would make for a broader category and more diversed (and hopefully more) entries. I change...

Yeah, Tin. I think it went pretty well considering most of us had no clue what you meant when you started it and we just passed you off as a nut.. I think it would only get stronger now that we have one completion under our belt. Especially if like Alfred and I suggest we find a sponser to offer a p...
