I really like your mock up. I'm almost thinking that you wouldn't need the tapered effect around the edges and possibly continuing the rounded edges on the left and right sides as well. Just an overall flat thickness with the recessed lines and text. That "m" is a bugger. I've been staring...

Presume the budget for this project is $20 plus materials on hand. Could you carve/sand/finish it out of a piece of blue or pink insulation foam? You'd have to really finesse it to get it presentable, but it might get your idea across. Is this a picture of the font you're talking about? http://your...

Agreed, pics would be good. For styrene to wood, I'd use contact cement. Roll or spray both mating sides, let dry and stick 'em together. Once you place them together though, they're >stucktogether<. Could you make a male buck pattern and vac-form Sintra board for the main body of the signs? ...

I've made female vacmolds from hydrocal or ultracal. They're much stronger than regular plaster. I've got one here that is a shallow cone shape, but my photo program is being uncooperative at the moment or I'd upload a pic of the set up. I'll try to put some up later. I'll describe it for you. Actually, I was just wondering whatever happened to it about a week or so ago.

Despite the "flaws" you mentioned, it's a wonderful example of scratchbuilding. I love seeing builds documented so thoroughly. :goodpost:

Are you sure it's electrical? I ground down the back of the gearbox and the back of the motor. Not all the way through, but enough that the plastic is slightly translucent. If you weakened the motor/gearbox housing, it could be that the gears/shafts are now jacked out of alignment due to the thinner...

Replaceable cutting mat for cleaner cuts
We used our a lot so it wore out quicker than would probably be normal.

We'd patch the groove with bondo, but that got to be p.i.t.a. over and over, so that's why we made the new base.

Depending on the application and how difficult it might be, you could rubber band it in place, hit it with a heat gun to get it to conform to the pattern to retain the shape and use contact cement (maybe water based if the styrene is really thin). Just a thought. Probably too much effort required th...

Well, they had what you were asking for before you changed what you were looking for. :?

Kylwell has a good suggestion. You could ask if someone here has a length of 1/2" x 1" x 8" acrylic.

Or you cuold laminate several strips of styrene if it has to be that material.
