I was working on one for Wonderfest but decided not to rush it and do it how I want. Course, it is kit based and doesn't fit this challenge but actually finishing any models is a challenge for me.

Why didn't I see this earlier. Have had a hover tank build in mind for severa years but think the turret I have will be too small for the body. Will have to play with it some.

I did a Tiger stripe Phantom once. Sprayed the Yellow then hand painted the black stripes. Seen others who spray the first color (always the lightest) and then mask off the stripes and spray the second.

Andrew, You poor, poor man. First, good luck on your endevor, you'll need it. I wouldn't try melting the flash off. Get yourself a very sharp Xacto and use that to trim them. As for coating them, the white glue trick will work. Have also heard of coating with superglue or even a spray flat finish. I...

If you are looking for some of the standard colors, Walmart brand spray paint works pretty good. You get the large can for under a dollar. White (Flat and Gloss), Black (Flat and Gloss), Primer Gray, Red, Blue, Green, Aluminum and several others. I have used the black on Bat Boat and the Aluminum on...

Another option the armor guys use is putty and then press some canvas over it before it dries to simulate the canvas.
This probably won't work if you want the area flexible though.

I have a couple sets of palm trees by Preiser for sale.
They work well for 72nd or 48th (but a little small for 35th).
PM or email me for details.

I have a pretty good selection of parts from aircraft and armor kits plus a few others for sci fi (including a couple of old Leggs containers). Recently added a few more parts. Picked up a box of 48th SR-71 parts at our club meeting a couple months ago. Person said there were parts missing but had p...

Most of the sculpters I have read use a product called Sculpey or Super Sculpey. You sculpt it and then fire it in your oven. You can keep adding to it and refire it.
Another product I have heard of is DAS Pronto. This one air dries but you don't get as long to work the piece.

You can use Krylon just fine. I actually like the Walmart brand spray paint (less than $1 a can). Best thing about Testors is the color selection is usually geared more for models. But for black, white, grey, red, yellow etc, the Walmart brand works just fine.
