Re: Waste paint...what do you do with it?

My ex used to have a blue car.. It's Interior Green, Black, and Intermediate Blue now..
I feel that it makes an artistic statement and it's been disposed of wisely.

I'm just kidding. It's been soaked up and dried in old rags that I use for airbrush cleaning and eventually throw away.

Re: Design Morphing - does it happen to anyone else?

You approach model building with a very Zen type outlook. I like it! I've had several designs running through my head for about a month and I've been letting them morph a bit before I start gluing and cutting. I picked up the TOS Cadet series yesterday (Romulan, D-7, Old Enterprise) so that I can st...

Re: Need help in duplicating wood finish!!

I've seen a lot of really good model makers use artists oils to do it, but I haven't. I actually read an article somewhere online last night that suggested ordinary wood stains for it, but you have to use the "goop" in the bottom of the tin without shaking it up. I've done it successfully ...

I used Tenax with chunks of styrene dissolved in it years ago. It does work well, but one thing I found was that it works best if you use the dissolved sprue from the kit you're building as the filler. Sprues from different kits sometimes are made from a slightly different styrene recipe and might n...

I've never used em for washes, but several articles in FSM have mentioned adding a drop or two of liquid dish soap to lower the surface tension.

Truglo fiber optic/trijicon gun site optics

Crossover! I was just doing some research on low light/night sites for a pistol when the thought hit me that the stuff might work for starships. I've never lit a model before and have no idea how much it costs. But some of you might enjoy checking out what's offered. Truglo sells packs of 9 inch lon...

Back then I probably used gloss white, but I rarely use gloss paints anymore so I don't really have the problem. I was an airliner builder for a while. That amount of gloss white will make your eyes cross!

White paint turning yellow tip

Years ago I read a hint somewhere that suggested adding a drop or two of light blue paint to the bottle of white. Not enough to change the color, but just to get into the mix I guess. I was doing mostly camo airplanes at the time, and using acryllic, so didn't pay much attention to it. I might have ...

I used to tint RC airplane canopies with Rit dye. Never tried yellow or gold, usually just green or red and I used black dye to get a smoked effect.
