Re: Teeny weeny LED's

Anyone know a good source for teeny tiny LED's (white or clear and red). I'm talkin' a mm or two in diameter. Do they make them that small? Smaller, actually, but they are surface mount (SMT). www.digikey.com is the best resource for anything you want electronic (and i DO mean ANYTHING). Order thei...

Good solution, karim! I was going to recommend a liquid adhesive (white glue) and a sprinkling of fine grained sand. It's what I used on my 1/4 scale WWII army helmet for the cork covering and it looked spot-on!

Re: Newbie lighting question

I'm trying to make a model of a three-dimensional starmap, a "stellarium" . The problem is mounting tiny lights on the ends of lengths of wire. I was wondering if there is a fiber optic material that is rigid instead of flexible. The idea was to cut pieces to appropriate lengths and mount...

Why would you run a 3.5V LED with a 3V supply. The short of it, no, you don't need a [current limiting] resistor because your supply voltage is less than the LED's forward voltage. Your LED, in this circuit, will illuminate, but they will be dimmer than they are designed to be. Your formula is corre...

Yup, it's liquid latex, packaged differently from the stuff I use. Good for certain applications. What do you need it for?

MMMM, tips? Buy a cheap air compressor and line drier. And yep, cleaning is very important. Have a dedicated bottle for your necessary cleaner of choice. If you have several cleaners, use several different bottles and mark them clearly. Again, if you need to stop brushing for longer than a sneeze, I...

You know I only ever bought 1 can of air. While the price of a compressor wasn't easy to swallow, at 12 bucks a can in Canada it was also pretty easy to justify. BTW, I have NEVER seen the $50 or $100 C-H compressors in a Canadian WalMart. They carry Coleman compressors, and the cheapest is $300 II...

I have a similar brush, but it's double-action. It isn't clogged. The air valve is stuck open. Same thing happened to mine and I took it apart to find the issue. It seems to only occur after I've soaked it and not let it dry throughly.

My understanding is the the pigments used in these paints are very course and generally unsuitable for airbrushing. If anyone has had sucess, I believe it has more to do with luck than anything else. If you want something economical, try the Liquitex product line. They are thinned with water and sup...
