Can Testors Buffing Metalizers go on metal?

The instructions warn you to spray them on bare plastic as opposed to priming first, but has anyone used them on PE brass parts? I was hoping to use the Aluminum Plate on my 1/350 TOS E nacelle grilles.

Definitely switch to either Mr. Surfacer or Mr. Surfacer Dissolved Putty. If you can't find that (it can be difficult), I had great luck softening Squadron Green with denatured alcohol. You can then smear it around with your finger. And Squadron White, I think, can be softened with acetone. Pure ac...

Rustoleum sandable automotive primer. Rattle cans can be found at walmart for 4 or 5 bucks. Goes on light, dries fast. Has oil in the mixture to prevent rust, isn't a very good primer for what we do paint will peel away after a while. Or so i have been told anyway. I have stayed away from it for th...

Spray can or airbrush? Airbrush would work too, I have one. Actually three, but I don't use the siphon-feed single action. I was hoping to economize a little with the primer but only if I can get good results. I don't want my paint coming up later when I mask. Or just get the Tamiya spray can prime...

Well, Walmart didn't have any primer, so I went to Michael's and got some Design Master primer. I'm going to try it out on my 1/1000 PL D7 and see what happens.

A primer on primers?

I'm gathering paints and such for my 1/350 TOS E and I can't find any advice here on primers. I'll be working exclusively with Tamiya acrylics. What's a good primer? Tamiya primer is like $15 for a small can, I'm hoping to do better.

Different kind of modeling I'm afraid. It's a heavy body acrylic with marble dust added. Takes forever to dry and will more than likely suck up paint like nobodies business. That's ok. This model is strictly a test bed anyway. Its whole purpose in life is to suffer the screw ups I'm not going to ma...

Just got a jar of the Liquitex Modeling Paste at Michael's and I'm trying it out on the PL 1/1000 D7 on my bench. I'll let you know what I think.
