Keep in mind that 3D printing goes by volume, and what you have is a pretty decent size (54 cm3), so its not going to be especially cheap.

Nope, unfortunately no gearing or belts. Just a small electric motor.

So I guess I'll just leave it alone. The base itself is only about 4" in diameter, and its a hemispherical shape, so I dont think there's enough room to fit a pulse width modulator in it.

I picked up a battery powered turn table/display base at the last meeting of hte model club I attend, and I was wondering if its possible to slow down the rotation of the display. Right now it rotates at 12rpm, and I'd like to slow it down so its only 3-5 rpm at most, which would make it much better...

So the new E-E model is molded in white plastic? I love the effect, and would love to do it w/ an E-D as well, but Ive only ever seen the ED molded in the light blue plastic which would be too opaque to pull this off.

A lot depends on what color plastic the model is molded in. I havent seen this kit, so I dont know, but if its molded in white, then chances are pretty decent that you can make it work. I run a 2200 watt max output CO2 Laser Welder at my job. Its part of a 5 axis CNC system. Probably not quite exactly what you were asking about, haha.

Ive never thought about the possibility of using it for other stuff, haha. I might have to play around w/ it some time.
