Yes the Pre-TOS era actually. But I figure once they build a good dish they would keep using it. Sort of like war ships: most of the improvements to the rafars have been in the electronics and the computer programing for tht last decade. Thanks for the color advice. Building the dish itself should p...

Deflector Dish Color

I looked but haven't found any reference here to the color. Pictures show to many varieties of color. Is it copper or brass?
I'll be building it probably and found many helpful references here at SM.

Greeblies: Where there's a will there's a greeblie?

I have found few mentions of greeblie sources here. Armor, aircraft and naval models are good. I also seem to look at some auto & truck models and see things that might be interesting as a source of greeblies. I love the "Dollar" stores, as toys, electronics and other things there show...

Welcome aboard Endbomb . I think if you hunt the forums here you might find some posts about molding and vaccuforming that may help. I've taken the 'cheater route' of searching out a ship that has most of the main body contours I want and going from there. Maybe that could be an approach for your fi...

If it isn't on the instruction sheet I would not know how to do this.

I guess if a soldier stationed in Iraq can take plastic flatware and figure out how to build a passable USS Enterprise from it  anything is possible with good planning and a different outlook or view of common objects.

Yeah Johnny I must be getting old...ER! I didn't think to try and find something on Wiki before I asked the original question. But I wondered if in space things might be a little different. I mean is there a standard attitude of ships that has to maintained at all times? Do they have ...

Most of those show lights as you say JohnnyCrash. BUT they also show a top light of white along with a white stern light. From Wikipedia: "Aircraft navigation lights are placed in a way similar to that of marine vessels, with a red navigation light located on the left wingtip leading edge and a...

My ship will be oddly shaped by Trek standards as it was (susoposedly) built in 2060 and the last major refit was in 2072. It's a space freighter and the only saucer shaped section is in the forward 'Command' section. Here is a link to the design I made. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z102/liver...

Say your coming in to dock on an unfamilar ship. If there is no automated guidance available for whatever reason it would kind of embarassing to come at a docking bay upside down and rely on the ol' Mark 1 eyeball to correct it! I think a flashing white light on top and a steady white on the...

Thanks for your answer Ziz. But are there lights on the dorsal and ventral surfaces? Are they colored?
Details may help. I'm doing a ship in the early Starfleet era when the United Earth Space Probe Agency still had say in civilian and comercial ships.

... but which side is green and which is red in space? Also do they they have different colored lights on the dorsal (top) surface and belly (bottom) surfaces? I'm wondering if the GlenCo kit has a lot of raised detail on the blimp envelope body? I know one of the Revell Zeppelin NT, has a smooth body. The Glenco art shows ridges but the picture of the kit shows a smooth shape.

Thank you Joseph. Someone on another site said some magic words: Revell Zepplins! I might have to alter some of the shape around the 'neck' where the rear hull mates with the forward 'Command' section but otherwise it might be a great shortcut. Get two and build a second as a 'cut-away' to show the ...

I Know This Shape.

I am building a 2060s Space freighter. It's something I drew up for a book I'm writing called "Princess of The Stars". I've drawn and refined the shape, including update during refittings as the story takes place in 2211. Now it's crying "Build me Please!" and I really want to. B...
