Re: LED flexible filament

I'm using these to light up the 2500 Enterprise D. Bit of advice. Use thin wire, unless you are a soldering grand master, as the terminals are only a few millimetres in length and is very fiddly. They are on ebay UK. If you are only after the 130mm length, https://www.railwayscenics.com/filament-fle...

Re: Thinning Humbrol for airbrush?

Soak it in dettol antiseptic liquid. Soaked the saucer from the Enterprise E model in it over night, next day the paint just peeled off. It was humbrol enamel paint.

Re: Removing 20 year old paint

Another for Dettol.

I used it to strip the paint off of my Enterprise E. Left the saucer in Dettol over night, then next day the paint just peeled right off.

Re: Custom print decals?

I forgot I made this thread haha.

I'm only looking for the decals to be about 2"x2", maybe slightly bigger.

It's to go onto the side of the radio controlled Grand Hauler. We want it to be different to everyone else's.

Re: Custom print decals?

A PNG file will not give great results from any printer. Also if you need white print then you must print on white decal paper as even a laser will not print white. Kinda involved or pay someone with a working ALPS printer to create art and print it right. Shame. The image is quite complicated, it'...

Re: Custom print decals?

I forgot I made this thread haha.

The image format is png and white is in the print, hence.

I don't know anywhere around here that has a laser printer to print it out. I suppose I could ask Google.

Custom print decals?

Any one know any where to get 1 sheet of custom decals printed? I have the image ready to go, just need a good vendor that won't charge the earth. I know you can get decal paper to do it yourself, but I want a quality print done, and my printer isn't up to the task, as I've tried and failed. UK pref...

I used a 0.6mm drill bit to drill 2 holes, top and bottom, then sawed the inbetween with the same drill bit. Currently doing the E myself, but my airbrush has decided to act up on me, so it's on the back burner until the cleaning gear arrives. The drilling will take a while, and it is very tedious, ...

Paper stuck to the model question?

OK, not sure if this is the correct section, if not, then please do move it. Anyway, I was spraying the inside of my Enterprise - E model and the paint leaked through the windows that I had drilled, I know, arse first, but the paper I lay down, so the paint wouldn't cover the kitchen bench, has beco...

cutting off the end at an angle (45 degrees?) I cut it at 90 degrees. Stupid I know, but we live and learn. I presume just buying a new cap at either of the hobby shops in cost prohibitive? Or maybe just buy a gravity cup that attaches to a siphon airbrush? I could get a new jar, £10.95 for 10 on e...

Never thought about that. I'll have a look when I'm next there, luckily there are 2 model shops within walking distance of each other.

Thanks.

Source for syphon feed tubing?

Any of you fine fellas know anywhere to get the tubing for a syphon feed airbrush? I cut mine down too far as before it was too long and wouldn't spray anything, as it was sitting right on the bottom of the jar. I do plan on getting a gravity feed one, when the Yule holidays are over and the car is ...

I'm currently doing the Enterprise E myself, lighting it of course.

I used an archimedes screw with a 0.6 mm drill bit and drilled two holes at either end of the window, then gently used the bit as a saw.

Someone here, whose name escapes me, did the same thing with theirs and that's what I did.

I'm at a bit of an impasse. I'm busy doing the Enterprise E and have torn some of the decals whilst applying them to the model. I have the decal sheet scanned, but I don't know which clear decal paper to go for and a quick search brings up Testors inkjet as one of the best. However, I live in the UK...
