Thanks for all the feedback guys. I especially appreciate the recommendations on the different ways of thinning it out. I ended up using some acrylic paint by Folkart and it came out of the bottle like tar. So thinning it was a bit more of an extensive process then what you get with Testors, etc... ...

Craft Paint on Model Kits?

Hey all. I'm in a position where all my local hobby stores have closed up around me, and my only options to buy paint locally are through the bigger box stores. Has anyone used the craft paint (normally in a squeeze bottle) on their model kits before? I'm curious if anyone knows how well it ages or ...

Fiber Optics and 1000 Scale Enterprise

Hey guys! I'm thinking about doing some minimal lighting on the 1000 scale Enterprise A (nav lights, & a flasher or 2). Looking at the size and space in the model there isn't much room so I'm planning on using 1 or 2 central LEDs and running fiber as needed to the different areas. My question is...

It's a bit hard to see everything in the pictures, but I have a few thoughts. 1. The wires coming off of the led tape may be crossed, so you should 2x check and make sure they are wired correct and any exposed wire is not touching. 2. The LED tape might be the 12v kind. Were you able to check and se...

Welcome. I'm a bit of a newbie too and there are a lot of experienced people on here to give you some tips and tricks.

I'm a fan of eBay for most of the components (LED, resistors, etc...), but for power supplies I use a 9V wall wart: http://shop.evilmadscientist.com/produc ... tsmenu/174

Question About Mounting a Model

Hi all. I'm always impressed with the lighted models I see on here so I decided to take the plunge and light one up. Thankfully the lighting wiring wasn't too difficult, but I'm curious how people mount them on a stand? I take it to use a metal tube, but how do you mount it to the stand? Glue? Screw...
