Kinda reminds me of the M61A5. But I think you're on to something more creative! Keep up the great work!

Excellent Work Paul. I start my military career as an Air Force machinist 30 years ago and that's just great work!

AJ...I'm impressed with your build. While you have pointed out the cons...I must admit that the pros far outweigh them. You've done some stellar work and I can only hope that down the road you attempt another Akira based on the improvements you noted.

Once again...Great Work!

I go find deal on Phot-etch parts online or in my LHS. Sometimes people order and the don't pic up...or the owner buys and can't sell. So you can get great deal on a product with extremely clear cut lines.

I've given you a link to Don Matthys site and the small board he build to fit in the smaller hulls as in your 1/1000 scale replica. Maybe this can also point you in a better direction.

None of the sellers are in Japan. they're all in Hong Kong. But alas...There's one seller in the States on Ebay right now. But word of note...You might like to try Mr Surfacer 1200. Sprays just as fine and much like Tamiya!

Look on Ebay! There are places in the States and Canada that now have it. Unless you wanna wait and you can get it directly from Hong Kong.

I use Plastruct bondene with those small dimesions, even on curve. I'll place the part on with two very small strips of tape at both ends and either use a "00" brush or a small syringe and do a capillary fill. It's worked so far. I hope this helps.

China and Ebay

I've ordered alot of Tamiya Spray on Ebay straight from China. It takes three weeks and its the real stuff. I don't mind waiting due to other projects or just prepping of my replica take up the time before paint. I hope this helps.

I had to order directly from China to get 6 cans of Tamiya White Primer! It's readily available on Ebay. I ordered from them before and it took 3 weeks to arrive and is the real thing. There is no real substitute for a low filler primer like tamiya primer.
