Re: 25th Anniversary, right?

Thought I'd post the link to this one. I'm pretty sure all of these kits have been issued, but I can't find any other pick builds. Installing New Pickups in my Guitar

Okay, this is not a model related question, but I know there are people here who are good with this sort of thing. So I'm installing a couple of new pickups in my guitar and thought I knew what I was doing, but it doesn't work the way it should. So... two pickups each with it's own tone and volume, ...

Who prints decals?

I know this has come up before, but I never remember who. Normally I print my own custom decals if I need them on my inkjet printer, but I can't seem to get the ones I want for a specific project I'm working on to be detailed enough. and I would also love to have white on the decals, which I can't d...

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

I want to build a corner of a Rebel hangar showing a Y- Wing being stripped down for service, half the Clone Wars hull coverings in a pile on the ground, the remaining ones still in place I did this for one of the contests a few years ago. Didn't have the time to make as many panels, or go into the...

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

Well, a good friend of mine GAVE me his unfinished stash of models! So stoked! He decided he hadn't done any modelling in years, and didn't want them to go to waste. What does that have to do with this thread, you ask? Well, the diorama I've wanted to do for years I didn't have the kits for, and di...

Window screen looks good in 1/72 scale, but I don't think it will look "tight" enough in 1/144... maybe there's a tighter filter or something somewhere?

Re: AMT Enterprise-E

Just thinking. About using paper behind the windows to diffuse the light, instead of white, could you use some of that "patterned" paper that looks like old parchment. I'd think that would give a more realistic look than white. Although I've never done either before.

Re: Illuminating very, very, small Ghost from Shapeways

I once had a micro machines Defiant from DS9 that a friend wanted to be parked at his fiber optic DS9 station. I made a cast and molded it in clear, and put an LED at the "docking" port. The idea was to Paint the defiant scrape off the parts that were to glow, and leave the part that "...

I know I've seen threads on here before regarding the Smithsonian color palette for the TOS Enterprise colors. But I can't find it anywhere! Re: using "bluestuff" for first time

It's a bit of trial and error. I used exactly what you bought - Bluestuff and Greenstuff putty. Just plan out your Blue molds carefully. I made molds of two 1/72 scale seats from an SR-71. My first attempt had the "opening" on the bottom of the seat with the seats head at the depth of the ...

I just recently got some Blue Stuff. I used Green Stuff tape with it. I cast and molded a couple of 1/72 cockpit chairs with it. First try didn't work so well, but figured out my errors and tried again. Second time worked pretty well! I think the Green Stuff tape was not necessarily my best choice f...

It was fairly thin and flat - I managed to use just Tap hot water and it straightened right out! Problem solved! For now. I'm guessing that if it's a thicker piece, then hotter water? I'm afraid to use a hair dryer on these things, as I've actually ruined a piece that way once before.

Straightening Resin

Quick question - I realize in order to straighten resin parts you're supposed to put it in hot water - but how hot? Tap hot or boiling hot? Never needed to straighten these parts before - I've been really lucky with my resin kits so far! But now I've got on that needs a bit of help.
