1/537 Reliant aztecdecals

I am in the process of applying the Aztec decals for the Reliant that are available through SSM. Has anyone used these decals? Also, when applying true saucer decals, was it necessary to cut each individual sectionor could you apply as one triangle piece? Like how the Refit saucer decals could be ad...

I see they worked better with a wet applicator when used on a scrap piece of plastic. Almost at a point where I will be using this set on my first build. Have to spray the Glosscote next.

How best to use Tamiya's Weather Set D

Has anyone used any of Tamiya's weathering sets? I've picked up this set and I experimented just a little on a scrap piece of plastic. I must be doing something wrong, because using the provided applicator I am seeing nothing. is this a product best used with water, mineral spirits or what?

Thank you all for the help. I put a couple of drops of thinner, it I can see how I had to build up in layers. Still thick in sopme spots since I was painting some rounded areas. As I stated earlier, I am planning to tone it down when I apply the dullcote and weathering (Tamiya Weathering set), so we...

have that article right next to the bench and I just picked up some new brushes from Michaels. I figured it was the quality of the brushes and I would need to thin out the paint. More often then not though, I am usually wrong on my assessment, so I figured it would be safer to ask on here. :)

Bursh painting with Model Master Acryl's

Has anyone had any success with brush painting Model Master Acryl's? I am seeing good coverage, but I am noticing I am still getting streaks. I've tried Vallejo's and they are pretty good with coverage and minimum streaking, but the color I need is part of the Model Master line that I currently have...

Using black krylon primer

I am attempting to finish up a model and I am thinking of using black krylon primer for the model then basecoat with a light gray (to be determined in the future). Has anyone expereinced any issues with this primer or any success with using black as primer and then something light over it?

I am looking into getting a soldering station and leaning towards the Elenco as a starter. Has anyone used this particular brand? The plan is to get a decent starter soldering iron before upgrading in the future.

Was thinking of brushing, but if using an airbrush is the only way, then I will have to look into getting some oils or pasatels then since I am thinking of using a brush.

Model master Acrylics for post shading work

Everyone, I am working on a model that I am going to attempt post shading. Now as I understand it, pastels and oils are best used for post shading, but can acrylics be used? Ecspecially after the model is sealed?

Was able to pick up a dremel style tool from harbor Freight. (In case I broke it, no harm). Works great for cutting the brass tubing. Thank you everyoen for the suggestions. I will have to invest in the diamond cutter disk for certain though.

Better option for cutting brass tubing

Morning everyone. I am looking for a way to cut small diameter brass tubing. I've tried using a hack saw, works fine, but I need to cut smaller pieces for a flash suppressor on several barrels for the AMT/Ertl MF. I've tried a rotorary tool, but I am not getting a a good cut. (Might be the no-name d...

Easy off should do it, but I will definitely stress the need to wear gloves, old clothes, and eye protection. That stuff can be nasty on the skin. The Simple Green did well on most of the paint except for the Krylon white on my model. Before: http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/marc_d_tyler/Cor...

I can definitely say that Simple green worked. Had issues stripping the paint off of my AMT/Ertl MF. Oven cleaner took off most of it but the area that was really caked on with 3 different colors layered on the back end. Soaked it with some Simple Green and used a "chisel" once it was softened up to...

Sub assemblies painted, best glue to put them together

I have to admit, I've been looking into this but I think I am just missing this most basic concept. I understand the need to build and paint in subassmeblies, but to minimize on sanding the joins, what is the best type of glue to use? Epoxy or superglue I'm aware that good ol' styrene glue is pain t...
