New Republic Assualt Frigate |
Scale: 1/880 The New Republic Assualt Frigate "Freedom's Fury" as mentioned in Timothy Zahn's "Vision of the Future" (pg 377). How I know that the ship mentioned is of the type pictured is a long story which I wont bore you with but will be glad to share in a future submission. This ship is 1 of 40 or so Capital ships built to be used as game pieces for an enormous Star Wars convention tournament. All are built in scale with a massive 6' Star Destroyer which is usually the games centerpiece. (Usually because it's the objective). The "Freedom's Fury" [ length-37 3/4"...width-7"...height-15 1/4"] is based on a 30" length of 2"x2". All the open decking is made of hand cut (thanks Jenn and John) 1/8" Sintra detailed with styrene chips and just about anything else I could find. The still enclosed forward area is from the same pattern I made for the Dark Force Dreadnaught which for awhile was the heavy hitter for the Rebel side. Since the Assualt Frigate is a stripped down, "Rebelized"version of the Dreadnaught I thought it made sense to use the same pattern. |

Most of the "parts lawyers" out there will note alot of Virago, Speederbike and mech bits in and amongst her decking. Perhaps the neatest thing about the ship is that both "Freedom's Fury and her sister "Starline Warrior" were built in about 16 hrs to fill a power gap in the Rebel lines. Later after thier convention premier they were given the permanent paint up's and dirty down's they now wear.
